Position Summary

As the R&D Associate Manager on the Energizer Battery R&D Team, you will lead a team of engineers, technologists, and technicians to develop and implement product improvements key to maintaining our industry leading position. The position is based at our Energizer R&D facility in Westlake, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers and scientists to develop and implement product performance improvements that meet time, cost, and performance objectives

  • Support surety of supply strategy and projects

  • Investigate concepts for battery performance, reliability, and cost improvement to influence R&D strategy and product cost roadmaps

  • Interact with cross-functional teams including marketing, procurement, operations, legal, and external third parties as needed to reach objectives

  • Provide project leadership, from conception to launch, and communicate updates across cross-functional teams and to senior leadership

  • Refine internal processes and ways of working to optimize effectiveness and efficiency

  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges

  • Mentor team members and possible successors

What we are looking for

  • 1-2 years demonstrated leadership ability, through direct/indirect supervision

  • 4+ years of experience in R&D or equivalent setting

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Chemistry, Electrochemistry, or relevant scientific discipline

  • Project management experience or cross functional team coordination

  • Ability to comprehend business objectives and work independently to solve problems in the most efficient manner possible

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint

What we prefer

  • Experience in battery systems or other related consumer goods products

  • Stage gate protocol, design for Six Sigma, statistics and design of experiments
