You will demonstrate technical leadership while conducting specialized engineering assignments In accordance with sound engineering principles, policies and controls. You will lead on projects including new or improved systems, constructions, materials or processes having marketable cost/performance advantages.
Provides technical leadership to the electrical (and some mechanical) skilled trades personnel in troubleshooting manufacturing and facilities equipment
Works with operations and maintenance team members to identify, define, plan, schedule, coordinate and implement: efficiency improvements in equipment, labor, and energy to ensure the highest level of company profitability and customer (process) satisfaction
Develops original design concepts, specifications, cost estimates, requisitions of materials, equipment and parts, work orders, and expedites construction to a timely completion within assigned budget to ensure the highest level of profitability and customer satisfaction (process and end consumer)
Facilitates electrical infrastructure maintenance and improvements (multi-year plan)
Coaches and develops electrical and electro-mechanical skilled trades staff as the plant electrical leader
Participates in and complies with all required OSHA, NFPA, and internal electrical standards; and insures the electrical skilled trades meet all required OSHA, NFPA, and internal electrical standards
Remains current with new electrical/electronic technology developments and applies them where appropriate
Other duties as assigned by Manager
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s (4-year undergraduate) degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology Engineering required
At least six (6) to eight (8) years as Electrical Engineer and/or equivalent role
Strong computer and organizational skills
Experience with basic electronic controls, PLCs, relay logic, variable frequency drives, stepper & servo controls systems; applications of electrical and mechanical sensors, especially relative to packaging equipment
Working knowledge and application of the NEC, NFPA79, & NFPA70-E
Working knowledge of Ethernet control systems
Experience reading and interpretation of electrical schematics
Knowledge of power distribution systems and electrical substations
Project Management – MS Project Knowledge of infrared/preventative maintenance technologies of electrical systems Experience in the supervision of electrical skilled trades
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Fluent English (verbal and written)
Must be authorized to work full time in the U.S.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Programming Allen Bradley PLC experience and HMI software
Working Relationships & Environment
Works with other department personnel as well as individuals and teams in other groups, including Maintenance, Production, Purchasing, Quality, Technology, QAD, and Marketing. Interfaces with service groups at Westlake. Established working relationships with vendors and contractors.
Works under broad supervision, with minimal guidance and is primarily self-directed providing reports on progress and results.
Provides skilled supervision and can function as a coordinator for technical and/or non-technical projects.
Working conditions are normal for a plant/office/manufacturing environment
There will be limited travel associated with this position
