The Assistant Category Development Manager provides support on reporting category trends and POG recommendations to the customer. This role has responsibility for analyzing and identifying key trends within the business, building plans around a category strategy, and executing POGs based on that strategy. This role will be the expert in the customer’s category as well as the key strategic leader to assist the Buyer with data-based reporting and recommendations.
Analysis and decision making – Leads assessment, analysis, & insight generation. Owns customer category management & analytics, leveraging syndicated and customer POS systems. Works on strategy and pog execution
Teamwork - work well with others to ensure the team’s effectiveness in reaching the customer’s desired outcomes
Achieving Results - set standards and goals for both themselves and the team that will result in achieving and exceeding the customer’s business plans
Direct account responsibility with regular ongoing customer face-to-face interaction.
Act as the category leader with customers to help develop category strategy based on insights and market trends
Develop and deliver customer presentations
Support the customer category modular process with data-driven recommendations and modular drawing
Lead and tracks key projects/initiatives for the customer
Conduct competitive analysis that identifies competitor strategies, strengths and weaknesses
Responsible for the identification and tracking of key trends
Conduct ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
Complete ad tracking for channel/ retailers
May perform other duties as assigned
Formulates standard category reporting with the customer and syndicated data
Required Skills and Experience
BA/BS required; Marketing/Business Administration preferred
3-5 years category management experience
Proven ability to work effectively with teams, strong communication and interpersonal skills including presentation and relationship building is essential
Proficiency in JDA space planning software
Technically skilled with Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Skills and Experience
Category/sales analytics experience
Consumer products industry experience or background
Syndicated data experience (IRI/Nielsen scan & panel platforms)
Customer POS systems familiarity
Working Relationships & Environment
- Located in Atlanta, GA or work remote as a possibility
