Position Summary

The Assistant Manager, Category Development is responsible for developing strong customer relationships by providing category solutions based on business trends, industry trends, and category management expertise.  This role will also work on developing insightful and actionable reporting, analysis, and selling story presentations based on key category trends.  Finally, this position will lead the development and process of customer category line reviews and be the expert in the customer's category as well as the key strategic leader to assist with the development of their strategies.

• Leads assessment, analysis, & insight generation

• Direct account responsibility with regular ongoing customer face-to-face meetings

• Owns category management / analytics

• Energizer customer insulation

Specific Accountabilities

• Category leader with customer to help develop category strategy based on insights and market trends

• Develop and deliver presentations

• Facilitate planning process – internal and external

• Own customer category line review process

• Represent Category at broader cross-functional team meetings

• Interface with other departments (Sales, Trade Marketing, Shopper Activation, Marketing, Finance)

• Lead planogram development

• Conduct competitive analysis that identifies competitor strategies, strengths and weaknesses

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 to 3 years customer-facing Sales and/or Category Management experience

• BA/BS required, Marketing/Business Administration preferred

• Outstanding written & verbal communication skills

• Experienced in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Power Point, Access)

• Proficiency in JDA space planning software

• Experience in developing & delivering compelling selling stories / presentations

• Ability to build relationships

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Syndicated Data (AC Nielsen or IRI)

• Home Center Channel experience

• Shopper data analysis

• Project Management / Prioritization

• Sales, Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing, Shopper Activation, & Retail – Secondary

• Reports to Sr. Manager, Category Development

Working Environment

• Travel Requirements (up to 15%)
