Position Summary
The Commercial Director, Sales is a channel & customer leader that is equally effective externally and internally utilizing strategic & tactical skills. The Commercial Director, Sales is responsible for effectively delivering in each of these key core areas:
Develop an Annual Business Plan for assigned channel and/or customer that delivers against the broader North America and Americas Business Plan
Exceeding Annual Business Plan Financial Objectives (Net Sales, Gross Margin $ and Rate)
Collaborating with key stakeholders and making the right trade-offs so the North America business team achieves its Financial Objectives
Constantly developing the next set of leaders for the North America business team.
Continually leveraging analytics and focusing on key metrics to make better decisions (speed & accuracy)
Translating Energizer’s value proposition into customer benefits
Building the right relationships across the enterprise and enrolling the right individuals as key customer stakeholders
Accountabilities
Operate with Excellence
Deliver Financial Results (Net Sales, Gross Margin $ and Rate) across all Energizer Holdings business categories (Batteries, Auto Care, & Lights) consistently
Customer Strategy – understand internal equities and how to “benefit sell” customer base
Provide consistently accurate customer/channel forecasts to Finance and Supply Chain
Effectively offset incremental investments into the business
Build relationships cross-functionally throughout the organization so roadblocks can be removed
Effectively balance the various challenges and competing demands of Brick & Mortar, Omni Channel, and Pure Play eCommerce customers
Negotiate a broad spectrum of customer agreements, including strategic pricing and assortment, mix management, merchandising, promotions and trade spend
Facilitate meetings with customer key decision-makers and functional leadership, including the line reviews and top-to-top meetings
Lead with Innovative People Plan
Highly dynamic, analytical, savvy, and high level of emotional intelligence
Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse team of Sales colleagues
Coach team members on high-level strategic issues as well as day-to-day operational issues
Regularly engage with team members via weekly check-ins and quarterly performance conversations
Drive Productivity
Develop a sound ROI mindset that delivers results with the financial resources that they own
Work effectively with cross-functional resources (Digital Economy, Shopper Marketing, Trade & Price Strategy, Category Management, Retail Operations, Area Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain) to maximize net sales revenue & cost savings that lead to SG&A productivity.
Deliver on the strategic objective of being the first brand seen and purchased by consumers regardless of the point of purchase
May perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience
4-year bachelor’s degree required
8-10 years of relevant business experience (including management experience) in sales, marketing or related area
High level of emotional intelligence
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including transparency/candidness
Strong analytical skills and capabilities; effective at utilizing Excel (including Pivot Tables & VLOOKUP) for analysis & reporting
Strong business acumen required (specifically financial understanding and translating data to insight/action)
Commitment to continuous improvement in managing all aspects of the business
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be proactive in identifying issues
Strong presentation skills and capabilities; effective at using PowerPoint to develop presentations; ability to deliver compelling, engaging presentations in front of small and large audiences
Experience in leading/implementing change within an organization
Ability to influence directly and indirectly; build trust and credibility
Ability to work autonomously
Previous people leadership experience; outstanding coaching and people leadership capability
Previous negotiations experience
Previous customer-facing business experience; experience building and maintaining customer relationships
Comfortable using various types of technology

Consumer Products Background – National Customer Experience
Sales, Trade Marketing, Digital/E-Commerce, Category Management Experience
Retail management experience in DSD, Direct Sales, Broker/3rd Party sales
MBA
Power BI
Experience with process mapping

Working Relationships & Environment
Reports to V.P. Sales, North America.
Key relationships internally will include Sales, Marketing, Category Management, Supply Chain, Finance, and Retail Operations, Price & Trade Strategy
