Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, is responsible to oversee and maintain electrical, plumbing, ventilation, refrigeration and other building systems within our production facility. You will be responsible for assessing the facility's resource requirements, designing and optimizing the facility's layout and critical operational systems, and overseeing the maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.

Accountabilities

  • Read, understand, manage electrical/mechanical drawings of all systems.

  • Ensure facility is compliant with local Electrical Safety Code, OHSA and NFPA.

  • Develop and implement utilities plans.

  • Develop strong knowledge of regulations, building code requirements.

  • Become an “expert” on new facilities equipment coming into the plant.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the process and equipment.

  • Manage plant recycling programs.

  • Conduct analysis and propose improvements for facilities services.

  • Responsible for maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical and related systems.

  • Recommend and manage all outsourced services for facility.

  • Read, understand, manage electrical/mechanical drawings of all systems.

  • Co-ordinating and overseeing outsourced contractors.

  • Supervises and assigns the work of maintenance employees and inspects work for completeness.

  • Ensure completion of Preventative Maintenance Program for facilities.

  • Determines material, equipment and supplies required to maintain systems.

  • Support implementation of engineering changes, new product planning, trials and launch.

  • Develop and manage projects as required including costs and budgets.

  • Prepare and maintain all pertinent documentation as required.

  • Communicate with Suppliers as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree/diploma (or equivalent years of experience)

  • Strong interpersonal, time management and conflict resolution skills

  • Experience in manufacturing facility an asset

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience in AutoCad, SAP and MS office

  • Good verbal and written communications

  • Travel as needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge and/or experience in applying lean principles

  • Supervisory experience
