Position Summary

As a Package Engineer with Energizer- Global Auto Care business, you will work with a team of scientists and engineers to deliver packaging and/or display solutions for a robust pipeline of innovative automotive aftermarket products for this fast paced and exciting business. The Packaging Engineer supports the R&D, and Engineering function with strong technical leadership and knowledge of packaging materials and manufacturing processes. Projects beginning at conception through full nationwide launch, will include the following aspects of packaging; unit and case packaging, unit loading, including POP displays and their development.

You will provide technical leadership in supporting “Package Development” projects focused on new product innovations, line extensions, cost savings, etc. You will be an active member of cross-functional teams to implement projects while working with vendors, plants, and co-packers to assure package components are of a high quality, sustainable, and efficiently produced on packaging lines.


  • Knowledge of packaging standards, test methods and best practices.

  • General experience and technical knowledge within secondary packaging development

  • Quality systems and awareness of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

  • Ability to use MS office applications.

  • Good interpersonal skills both written, and verbal.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Profile

  • BA/BS in Packaging or related science discipline with 0-5 years’ experience

  • OR No degree with minimum 7-10 years significant equivalent work experience preferably with sustainable packaging materials and processes within the consumer goods industry.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in case and carton component design/development or related packaging industry, preferably consumer products.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to effectively interface with cross-functional groups at all levels of the organization.

Ability to work independently and implement multiple projects in a timely manner

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Skills and Abilities: ArtiosCAD, TOPS, SolidWorks.

  • Understanding and/or exposure to a stage or toll gate style of project management.

  • Must be thorough and exercise attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to set and maintain schedules.

  • Previous experience in extrusion blow molding and injection molding processes bottle development or related packaging industry, preferably with consumer products.

  • Previous experience with design and development of POP displays

  • Experience with consumer goods labeling of various types within a production environment

Working Relationships & Environment

  • Ability to interact and conduct business within various departments of the organization at all levels.

Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for an office, R&D, and manufacturing environment (proper PPE), travel (less than 10%).

Tasks include: Carry, grasp, talk, hear, walk, see, sit, and stand.
