Position Summary

As a Buyer / Planner for our Global Auto Care division, you'll be responsible for all material planning and purchase order management related duties associated with the review, scheduling, analyzing, and planning of material supply.  The Buyer / Planner manages supply and the product life cycle of all materials they are responsible for. 

Accountabilities

  • Review SAP MRP supply-demand requirements and make decisions on replenishment quantities and timing that optimizes inventory position (i.e. working capital) while maximizing fill-rates.

  • The incumbent will would be responsible for 2-4 raw material families (approx. 10 total families) with an inventory average of $2-6M under their scope of responsibility.

  • Establish and manage relationship with suppliers to coordinate production timing and shipment deliveries; track all materials to ensure timely delivery to meet operationally JIT requirements.

  • Maintain positive, professional working relationships with all suppliers while holding them accountable.

  • Identify and expedite materials to account for changes in plan to ensure high customer service levels.

  • Manage inventory levels for assigned product families to ensure high turnover performance.

  • Identify slow moving materials and proactively manage inventory down.

  • Proactively work with supplier base to improve supply planning parameters to improve service level, inventory and responsiveness.

  • Manage all item MRP planning parameters for optimal system performance within SAP.

  • Measure supplier performance and effectively work to correct non-compliance, performance issues.

  • Coordinate with internal departments on new item introductions, items transitions and item close outs.

  • Partner with Sourcing Managers to: work on supplier/supply issues, optimization processes and provide material insights and ordering patterns to optimize the supply chain.

  • Support the product life cycle transition process (phase in & out) as the business model adjusts to meet customer requirements.

  • Provide communication of risk materials and keep all production schedules updated to mitigate any risks to the production plans.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 1-3-year experience working as buyer, coordinator or planner or equivalent experience.

  • Analytical, problem solving, and technical skills required.

  • ERP/MRP experience required (SAP MM & PP preferred).

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft office platform to analyze situations and identify risks and mitigation plans.

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the supply chain from: plan, source, make, deliver with a focus on capacity and material planning.

  • Must have the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with internal and external partners.

  • Prior commodity experience dealing with: chemicals (bulk & pallet) and packaging (multiple levels).

  • Strong persuasive skills in managing key suppliers and ability to develop partnerships to drive cost savings.

  • Team player, strong initiative and ability to multi-task/manage multiple priorities

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience using SAP (MM/PP) is highly preferred.

  • Experience using Micro Soft Office applications.

  • Previous experience with CPG or seasonal businesses is preferred.

  • Work closely with key cross functional groups to effectively communicate risks/opportunities (Customer Service, Commercial Sales, Operations, Distribution, Quality and etc.)
