Position Summary

As a Regulatory Specialist in Energizer's Global Auto Care division, you'll be primarily responsible for all product regulatory and safety aspects of over a dozen product lines including appearance, refrigerants, fuel additives. You will also have some exposure to Energizer's battery and lighting products, but primarily with products such as STP, Armor-All, and A/C Pro as well as crossover support for our legacy auto care businesses (fragrance & appearance products such as Eagle One and Refresh).

Accountabilities

  • Chemical and product registration

  • Chemical regulation monitoring

  • Sanitary registration coordination

  • Product and packaging safety and regulatory marking

  • Develop and maintain technical and safety documents and online database

  • Contact to regulatory agencies

  • Recycling reporting (quantities of materials and products placed on the market globally)

Specific Accountabilities

  • WERCs account manager for retailers

  • Authoring global safety datasheets (SDS's) and power user of SDS software

  • Poison control center notifications / registrations

  • Chemical advice to Research and Development during product formulation

  • European Union REACH / Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) / California Prop 65 / EPA Registrations

  • Volatile organic compound use/exemptions company expert

  • Transportation, storage and hazardous classification

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (4-year undergraduate) in a technical, chemical based field is required

  • 3 or more years of experience in the chemical industry, particularly with work around safety data sheets and chemical reporting/registration

  • Ability to translate technical and legal guidance to commercial colleagues

  • Critical and creative thinker

  • Ability to apply general guidance to discrete and varied situations

  • Excellent communication both verbal and written

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • WERCs experience

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous substance training

  • MSDS Online experience

  • Experience with trade associations

Working Relationships & Environment

Work Relationships

  • Reports to Manager of Government Affairs

  • Key relationships internally will include Sales, Marketing, Legal, Research and Development, Procurement and Supply Chain

  • External engagement will include government officials, retail and industrial customers, and 3rd party labs.

     

Work Environment

  • Travel 3-5 times per year

  • Work schedule during travel may extend before/after typical working times due to time zone(s).

  • Flexible at times in working hours for conference calls with global business
