As a Senior Director of our R&D team for the Global Auto Care division, you will lead, manage, coordinate and control all R&D functions, budgets and services to successfully develop and implement into production new/improved products. You will develop the vision and plans for the innovation road map and define/create the key discovery platforms that enable a stable flow of innovation. We are looking for an individual that ensures efficiency and effectiveness of the total R&D organization.
Provide leadership in managing a staff of director(s), manager(s), fellow(s), scientists and technicians. Through motivation and delegation, directs and coordinates activities of relevant R&D functions and activities
Work closely with Global Marketing to develop a product cycle plan and leads the effort to define what's possible and what needs to be true
Work closely with operations, procurement and engineering to ensure technical alignment, set priorities and develop the cost savings road map
Develop the vision and innovation strategy for the Auto Care R&D
Oversee new product development and cost savings in conjunction with production management, global implementation
Keep abreast of new developments in technology through professional contacts, technical literature and other methods as deemed appropriate
Set timely objectives and provides direction to meet established plans. Manages multiple projects simultaneously. Effectively utilizes human resources. Provides leadership in colleague development, coordinating cross functional programs, cross technology initiatives, communication, cost control, safety and compliance
Collaborate with cross-functional groups such as marketing, sales, procurement, engineering, quality, integrated supply chain, operations and other R&D units to achieve the objectives of the organization
Champion the use of process tools such as Stage Gate Process and continuous improvement. A key leader within the seamless technical organization

Required Skills and Experience
4-year degree or higher in Science or Chemical/mechanical engineering
Minimum 15 years managing an R&D/Technical Organization and program. Knowledge of one or more of the following: material, chemistry, mechanical sciences and/or device technology
Experience managing large multi-functional and global technical organizations e.g. 25 or more people with 3-6 direct reports
Demonstrated Strategic Thinking and Critical Thinking
Preferred Skills and Experience
Advanced degree desirable
Knowledge of production process and quality
Working Relationships & Environment
- Reports to the Vice President & Chief Technology Officer. Key relationships internally include production, engineering, marketing, sales, quality, integrated supply chain. External engagement includes technical alliances with other companies
Travel Requirements – domestic and international up to approximately 20%
