Position Summary

This Senior Manager position is responsible for all engineering, maintenance, and facility-related activities within the manufacturing facility. They will implement and maintain the overall engineering objectives and initiatives for their entire team while also addressing and solving performance/operational issues to improve efficiency. This person oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget.

This leadership role will work seamlessly with the production team to address daily line support to maintain product throughput, process improvements and the implementation of capital projects. This includes problem-solving associated with machine downtime, product defects, and safety issues. This position reports to the Director of Plant Operations.

Finally, this position will lead/support the development of platform technologies that will have a significant impact on the competitiveness of Energizer brands and the success of new product initiatives with regard to performance, manufacturability, and competitiveness.


  • Lead, new equipment research, justifications, design, acquisition and implementation for various applications.

  • Lead planning and managing the Capital budgets and projects throughout the Facility.

  • Lead reliability team by driving sustainable reliability, technical, and engineering solutions for the maintenance and production teams.

  • Recommend appropriate technical solutions to align with new products and processes.

  • Utilize/develop analytical and diagnostic methods and apparatus by leveraging appropriate resources. Validate performance and demonstrate the efficacy of new materials or processes.

  • Prepares complete proposals and timelines for implementation and follows through to completion on a project management basis.

  • Collect, organize and analyze data from a variety of sources, make conclusions and recommendations and provide regular progress reports on projects.

  • Provide guidance and support to facilities team responsible for completing all on-site activities related to construction, renovation, repair, maintenance, equipment placement, security, disaster relief, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and industrial building systems.

  • Ensure safety inspections are conducted regularly and in a timely manager. Areas for inspection include conveyors, fire and sprinkler systems, powered industrial trucks, and storage equipment.

  • Work with inside and outside resources to develop ideas and designs, procure materials and refine systems involving process improvements, technology enhancements, and ergonomic enhancements.

  • Maintain current awareness of new technology and developments relevant to areas of specialty.

  • Use oral and written communication skills to update management, peers and team members of progress and findings. Participate in cross-functional teams and interface effectively with other functional areas to progress programs.

  • Strong customer service orientation towards production, passion for driving service levels, productivity and quality.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

  • 15+ years of manufacturing progressive leadership management experience

  • A consistent track record of leadership, development, budgeting, decision-making, organizational and motivational abilities.

  • Ability to meet and/or exceed business objectives (demonstrated) in a manufacturing setting.

  • Able to define and communicate the vision for property, plant and equipment for the site

  • Detailed understanding and core skills in factory design, layout, capital equipment procurement and labour planning

  • Good written, oral and interpersonal skills and ability to perform well in a high-intensity team environment.

  • A hands-on candidate having experience developing complete manufacturing systems.

  • A creative and motivated individual who is a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to lead projects or significant portions of projects, with limited supervision.

  • Strong focus on /commitment to cost, quality, delivery.

  • Familiar with the setup and operation of all key equipment and plant processes.

  • Basic understanding of Quality Systems, Lean, and IT tools. Able to lead the delivery of Lean (5S, visual mgt., kaizens, etc.) in their department.

  • Effective/proactive in the use of problem-solving tools/techniques.

  • Understanding of key support/functional processes (materials management, quality systems, TPM, etc.).

  • Good verbal and written communication skills – Able to clearly articulate team’s goals and objectives.

  • Understands the value of, and is able to drive process discipline in the organization

  • Strong focus on organization/ team skill development.

  • Financial skills (budgeting, financial analysis, etc.)

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge and/or experience in applying lean principles.

  • Practical technical understanding and good facilitation skills.

  • CPG – Liquids Manufacturing Experience

  • 24/7 Operation Management Experience

Working Relationships & Environment

  • Direct Management accountability for hourly, salaried, and contracted colleagues in assigned areas.

  • Reports directly to the Director of Plant Operations or other members of Management.

  • Collaborates with other members of the plant leadership team including Production, Scheduling/Logistics, Human Resources, Safety, Finance and members of Management at other applicable locations to ensure consistency in achieving goals as well as sharing best practices for continuous improvement.

  • Daily engagement with temporary agency partners.

  • Engages with external suppliers.

Work Environment

  • Must be willing to work in the production environment on all shifts.

  • Must wear appropriate personal protection as required by plant safety standards.

  • A team-based environment that encourages colleague inclusion, ownership, and empowerment.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
