Position Summary

The Plant Accountant will be an integral part of our plant management team within our NA Production Operations with visibility to other departments within the organization. Primary duties will be to lead the month-end closing and assist with inventory control.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Support internal partners, other departments, management, and external parties with data and analysis requests.

  • Provided detailed analysis of plant manufacturing variances.

  • Prepare monthly closing journal entries and take ownership of analyzing/investigating results and resolving issues in a timely manner.

  • Prepare detailed account analysis reports for the Plant Balance Sheet.

  • Monitor cost systems and inventory movements for financial reporting.

  • Respond timely to both internal and external audit requests.

  • Prepare required quarterly and year end reports.

  • Develop a timeline, including required resources, needed to execute the corporate budget requirements in support of developing standard product costs.

  • Execute the timeline by developing departmental and location budgets and holding resources accountable to requirements.

  • Drive and support continuous improvement by challenging the status quo, supporting management initiatives and developing & documenting processes.

  • Assist with other locations as needed and assist with ad hoc projects.

Required Skills and Experience

  • BS in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • MBA or advanced certification (e.g. CPA, etc.) a plus, but not required

  • Minimum two to three years’ experience with Manufacturing/Cost accounting background

  • Proficient in understanding of US GAAP; comfortable in review and analysis of plant financial statements

  • Knowledge in building product costs a plus

  • Strong user of Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP a plus

  • Ideal candidate attributes include ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, intelligent, self-starter, independent thinker, quick learner, excellent/pro-active communicator, and good team player

Working Relationships

  • This role will report to the Fennimore Plant Controller. The Plant Accountant will work with all levels of exempt and non-exempt colleagues including the Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Supervisors and Hourly colleagues.

Work Environment

  • All work will be physically at the Fennimore plant
