Direct all production and maintenance activities providing an ongoing communication link across multiple shifts of operation.
Arrange and manage temporary reassignment of supervisors, maintenance and direct labor in the event of absenteeism. Assess on-going training needs of production, maintenance and supervision. Coordinate training plans with necessary support groups. Member of Union/Management team, monthly meetings, grievance resolution and negotiations.
Coordinate, communicate and manage production schedules to achieve established quality, output, efficiency and scrap standards.
Initiate processes to address variances in efficiency, scrap, rework, performance, and downtime.
Establish timetable for routine maintenance of production equipment and tools and ensure the scheduled maintenance is carried out.
Locate and eliminate bottlenecks making changes in people or equipment that will smooth out the production flow and increase efficiency.
Monitor raw materials and finished products to ensure adherence to quality specifications.
Effectively utilize all available means to meet production schedules.
Maintain systems and procedures for accurately reporting production activity, maintaining WIP inventories and assisting with investigation of variances.
Foster involvement of all employees in efforts of continuous improvement in quality and operations.
Promote safety awareness and a safe workplace for all employees.
Ensure compliance to all plant policies and procedures and if necessary apply appropriate discipline.
Ensure compliance with environmental requirements that include governmental regulations, corporate policies and plant procedures.
Develop and enforce housekeeping procedures for all production operations.
Model behavior to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility.
Any other duties and functions necessary to assist the Plant Manager in overall plant operations.
Required Skills and Experience
BS/BA in business administration, management, engineering or industrial technology.
Minimum of seven years management/supervisory experience in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented production environment is required.
Labor relations background and experience with SAP is preferred.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Management skills in maintaining orderly production activity, selecting, training and appraising individuals for specific jobs, counseling employees and supervisors on plant policies and procedures and job-related problems as required.
Strong knowledge of cell systems, assembly methods, maintenance requirements, high speed manufacturing processes and equipment.
Broad knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Wage and Hour, ISO 9000 and Title VII. Must have working knowledge of methods of controlling employee and environmental exposure to toxic materials.
Experience in union shop environment and understanding of he union contract to ensure appropriate administration and maintenance of harmonious labor-management relationship.

Plant engineering staff, customers and company technical support staff.
