Position Summary

The Safety, Health, Environmental, and Affairs (SHEA) Coordinator directs, leads and coordinates plant safety, health and environmental activities to assure compliance with regulatory, legal and corporate requirements.  Provides technical consultation, support and guidance to all plant staff on safety, health and environmental matters with guidance from the SHEA group in Asheboro and other corporate resources.

Accountabilities

  • Lead facility contact for all SHEA programs and procedures that include Federal, State, and Local safety, health, and environmental regulations.

  • Accountable for developing, leading and maintaining the process and procedure of documentation related to the plant SHEA Evergreen, and any compliance programs and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain monthly KPI reports for safety, health and environmental activities.

  • Leads safety, health and environmental training for salaried, hourly and new personnel.

  • Accident investigation submit incident report on investigation and recommend changes or improvements.

  • Maintains training records and documentation.

  • Develop, review and update Job Hazard Analysis and PPE requirements.

  • Leads updates to existing programs and procedures in SHEA to improve effectiveness.

  • Represents Fennimore facility in North America Shared Services (NASS) SHEA staff meetings and provides information when applicable.

  • Provides technical information supporting the efforts of consultants and contractors participating in safety health and environmental projects or in plant activities with safety health and environmental impacts.

  • Member of plant project teams to insure safety and environmental considerations.

  • Maintains records of facility audits, hazard assessments and inspections.  Participates during governmental health, safety and environmental inspections.

  • Responsible for maintaining Safety and Industrial Hygiene data entry and provide reporting as required.

  • Maintain Worker's Compensation claims and escalates to HRBP when accommodations are requested.

  • Insure 3rd party contractors involved in facility projects are trained and follow plant safety & health rules.

  • Perform periodic audits of external facilities used for management of Energizer Holdings materials and maintains documentation of such visits.

  • Prepares (with SHEA and Corporate Legal guidance and direction) external safety, health and environmental reports including permit applications, government filings and responses to governmental inquiries or information requests.  Ensures that all permits are submitted on time and are accurate.

  • Position located in Fennimore, Wisconsin.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Associates Degree or 2 years or more in roles related to Safety, Health or Environmental.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in MS Office. Knowledge of SAP desirable.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization and specific strength in influencing decision makers and managing expectations.

  • Attention to detail, initiative, and ability to implement decisions with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on colleague issues.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • BA/BS Degree in technical field or comparable work experience in industry.

  • Experience in manufacturing.

  • Exposure to Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs and OSHA certifications.

  • Lean Manufacturing.

  • Practical technical understanding and good facilitation skills.

  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills and ability to prioritize and manage time to keep multiple initiatives effectively moving forward.

  • Ability to learn quickly.

Working Relationships & Environment

Working Relationships

  • Reports to the Plant Human Resources Manager.

  • Collaborates with the Operations Supervisors and remote SHEA Manager (and support team) to align on program initiatives and processing improvements.

  • Collaborates with the Operations Supervisors, support staff and members of management to ensure consistency in achieving goals, administering policies, and sharing best practices for continuous improvement.

  • Daily engagement with production hourly colleagues.

  • Engages with external suppliers and contractors.

     

Work Environment

  • Must we billing to work in production environment.

  • Must wear appropriate personal protection as required by plant safety standards.

  • Team-based environment that encourages colleague ownership and empowerment, keeping Safety First and Quality always.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
