Position Summary

The Maintenance A - General Assignment must be capable of setting up, maintaining and repairing a wide variety of production and transporting equipment with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to diagnose mechanical difficulties and correct those requiring machine adjustment, replacement of parts or minor reworking of existing elements. Must be able to work to close tolerances and make adjustments to intricate and precise machinery. The mechanic must be thoroughly familiar with the use of hand tools and good maintenance practices. Should be able to tear down, inspect, and reassemble, with new or reworked parts, all of the equipment assigned to them. Should have sufficient initiative and ingenuity to occasionally make workable suggestions for improvement of existing equipment.

Responsibilities

The description of this job covers only a general outline of the duties of the job. Due to the varied nature of the daily work operations, it is impossible to include a detailed description of all miscellaneous tasks an "A" Mechanic may be called upon to do from day to day. It is understood that, in every instance, the mechanic is expected to produce a full shift of work and that the supervisor, where possible, will provide a full shift of work.

  • Understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times. Must stay focused on maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Demonstrate high levels of good housekeeping practices to promote a safe work environment.

  • Accurately troubleshoot common mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment problems.

  • Perform root-cause analysis to diagnose, repair and implement permanent solutions to equipment failures.

  • Perform and direct set-up and adjustments of equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement that reduces operating costs.

  • Cleans and lubricates machinery and equipment following preventive maintenance schedules along with identifying new needs for PM schedules that include suggested frequencies, type of maintenance, and why there is a need.

  • Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors and operators to diagnose problems and repairs of machine.

  • Will communicate with supervisor to understand production priorities and stays focused on tasks.

  • Train others to perform required tasks.

  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

What we are looking for

  • Manufacturing maintenance related experience preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 2 years maintenance experience required.

  • Strong electrical/mechanical abilities, and experience with PLCs preferred.

  • Machinery and welding experience preferred.

Required Skills

Strong problem-solving skills, communication, organizational skills, and ability to work well within a team. Perform well in a high intensity team environment. Ability to perform lifting up to 50 pounds, constant walking, standing, bending, twisting, stooping and reaching
