Position Summary

The Associate Buyer is deeply involved in conducting analysis to support category strategy development and execution.  The Assoc. Buyer will support supplier relationship management and the achievement of cost/performance targets.  He or she will lead category/supplier management for specific categories along with supporting data analysis for the procurement team in whole.


  • Conduct quantitative analysis using Excel and/or Access

  • Develop category and supplier profiles

  • Ensure supplier dashboards are up to date, accurate, and timely

  • Support group deliverables including supplier compliance, idea tracking, risk mitigation/analysis, and periodic category update decks

  • Support negotiations with suppliers and cost model development across the business

  • Understand the importance of stakeholder management and begin to engage stakeholders

  • Support the development category specific pipeline

Specific Accountabilities

  • Conducts reliable analysis when requested

  • Support sophisticated financial analysis and business cases

  • Support benchmark and should-cost analyses using competitive intelligence and reports

  • Supports day-to-day supplier relationship activities

  • Supports risk and compliance program management

  • Conducts supply market analysis

  • Executes sourcing and product cycle plan projects with minimal supervision

  • Tracks procurement performance metrics

  • Gain knowledge of negotiation tools/techniques and begin to apply them when given opportunities

  • Assist the execution of the Energizer strategic sourcing process including RFP and eSourcing events

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Management preferred

  • Experience and familiarity with data analysis for insight, specifically within Excel

  • 1+ years of experience with demonstrated success

  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to drive change in a decentralized organization with minimum supervision

  • Strong analytical thinking with demonstrated results

  • Ability to set priorities and recommend solutions

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with basic operational financial metrics and total cost of ownership analysis

  • Aptitude in interpersonal communication across multiple geographic locations and technical topics

  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple programs and objectives

  • Desire to learn and grow with supplier relationship management and negotiations

  • Experience facilitating consensus building and mindful leadership

  • Experience in quantitative analysis using Microsoft Access

  • Knowledge and use of eProcurement and eSourcing methodology
