Position Summary

Support battery development of alkaline cells. Utilize analytical skills paired with Solidworks/CAD drawings to solve complex battery design problems. Interact with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientist to provide solutions to support high volume battery production in Wisconsin.

Accountabilities

•Screen new materials for battery prototype construction.

•Set up and run special battery testing on automated battery testing equipment.

•Visit and interact with the plant process engineering team to provide support for real time issues.

•The internship will include monthly and final reports and presentations to engineers and managers.

Required Skills and Experience

Education and Experience Profile

•Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school. Prefer chemistry or engineering background.

•A science background and experience with laboratory experience is required. Independent research work is a plus.

•Electrical/mechanical skills are beneficial, for setting up functional tests for batteries to mimic applications.

•0-3 years experience in a technical lab or production environment.

Required Skills

•Safe laboratory skills and attention to record keeping during experiments.

•Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

•Ability to prioritize multiple scheduled tasks.

•Computer skills for data entry and manipulation in Excel or statistical software packages (Minitab, JMP).

•Good written and verbal communication skills. Presentation skills are a plus, as a part of the work evaluation and development process.

Working Relationships & Environment

•The employee is regularly required to stand and prepare/measure materials in the lab.

•Must be able to become familiar with chemical hazards of these materials and safe handling protocols.

•The job entails occasional manual and semi-automatic assembly of prototype batteries for development purposes.
