Position Summary

This position will provide assistance to the Zinc Air Hearing Aid Battery - Mechanical Engineering team with various research and development projects.

This position will provide mechanical engineering support for the continuous improvement of performance, quality, reliability and cost of zinc air hearing aid batteries. Under the guidance of the Project Mechanical Engineer, this employee will help to implement the long-term cell design roadmap and develop skills to support product improvement from concept to manufacturing.

Accountabilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

•Generate engineering calculations, drawings, 3D Models (using SolidWorks), analysis, prototyping, and specifications.

•Design fixtures and simple equipment for prototype processes.

•Support product and process development.

•Research products, request quotes, and prepare proposals to purchase small equipment.

Required Skills and Experience

Education and Experience Profile

•Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics with a minimum sophomore or higher level standing.

Required Skills

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•3D CAD, specifically SolidWorks.

•Must be a decisive, action-orientated individual.

•Proven ability to work effectively on teams.

•Proficiency with standard office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Skills and Experience

•Ability to apply statistical analysis and design of experiments.

•Knowledge of Minitab statistical software.

•Machine shop and general hands-on mechanical experience.

Working Relationships & Environment

•The employee is regularly required to use hands to move and handle objects, tools, and controls.

•The noise level and working conditions are similar to those for a laboratory/office facility.

•The employee may be required to operate equipment that is used to construct zinc air hearing aid batteries.

•Some handling of battery chemicals may be necessary, so common laboratory safety and cleanliness procedures must be followed.

•The employee must desire to work in a highly motivated and fast-paced team environment, where priorities and tasks can change daily.
