The Manager, Category Development is a subject matter expert on both the customers and categories they represent. This position serves as a key strategic leader assisting in the development and execution of the strategies & tactics that will drive category growth for the retailer.
Analysis and decision making – leads assessment, analysis & insight generation
Owns customer category management & analytics, leveraging syndicated and customer POS systems
Teamwork – work well with others to ensure the team’s effectiveness in reaching desired outcomes
Achieving Results – set standards and goals for both themselves and the team that will result in achieving and exceeding business plans and providing maximum return on investment
Direct account responsibility with regular customer face-to-face meetings
Act as the category leader with the customer to help develop category strategy based on insights and market trends
Develop and deliver customer presentations
Facilitate internal and external planning processes
Work with sales teams to provide insight-driven decision making and guide 4P strategy
Support the customer category line review process
Provide customer category insights at broader cross-functional team meetings
Design, develop and maximize in-store assortment and planograms
Conduct competitive analysis that identifies competitor strategies, strengths and weaknesses
Responsible for the identification and tracking of key trends
Conduct ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
Complete ad tracking for channel/ retailers
May perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience
3 to 5 years of category management, sales or relevant job experience
BA/BS required, Marketing/Business Administration preferred
Outstanding written & verbal communication skills
Technically proficient in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Power BI is preferred
Experience in developing & delivering compelling selling stories/presentations

Category Management/Sales Analytics experience
Syndicated Data (AC Nielsen or IRI)
Proficiency in JDA space planning software
Project management / prioritization
