Position Summary

In this exciting role you will lead the field sales team to achieve ongoing sales growth throughout New Zealand. You will partner with the Sales Director and the commercial team to execute sales strategies and drive high performance. You will be supported by a team of talented Territory Managers and Merchandisers who pride themselves on delivering best in class service and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve total business sales, profit and share targets through execution of customer initiatives as agreed with the commercial teams

  • Provide leadership, direction, development, motivation, and support to the field sales team and coaching and mentoring to direct reports

  • Recruitment and retention, induction, performance management, career development and succession planning

  • Plan, control and reporting of the total operating budget for the field sales team

  • Develop external Customer relationships with key decision makers (Store Managers, Area Managers, Industry Associations) to deliver incremental sales through over and above sales drives

What we are looking for

  • Proven track record in leading field sales teams to successful outcomes

  • Suitable Tertiary qualifications

  • In depth understanding of the NZ retail landscape across food, hardware, electrical and auto class of trade

  • Ability to analyse sales insights, data analytics to apply to sales strategy

  • Previous experience in budgeting and allocation of resources

  • Experience in people leadership of a field team

  • Previous experience in National Account Management preferred
