Position Summary

As the Channel Director for the Modern Trade Channel, you will play a crucial role in leading a high performing team in achieving business expectations for all product segments – Batteries, Lights and Autocare.


  1. Leading Modern Trade key account management, field sales execution and merchandizing team in achieving business KPIs.

  2. Play a vital role in Malaysia market leadership team.

  3. Lead annual budget planning process for Modern Trade Channel, sales target setting for accounts, drive team in achieving results.

  4. Protect strong market shares for battery, capture listing opportunities for all product segments.

  5. Buidling strong customer relationships, ability to negotiate and grow the category with customers.

  6. Strong financial acumens, ability to evaluate investment ROI, deploy investment fund effectively in growing the business.

  7. Stakeholder management across functions, collaborate with marketing on consumer programs deployment, collaborate with supply chain on demand planning, customers delivery fulfiments

  8. Solid forward planning, ability to resolve complex issues and address challenges from external and internal.

  9. Proactively monitor and strive to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in the sales organization’s planning efforts through undertaking regular and frequent field visits to audit own and competitor activity.

  10. Drive digital automation to simply way of workings for modern trade team, ability to leverage insights to drive effective customer plans and consumer offtake.

  11. Coach and develop modern trade team and provide on the job support in achieving business target.

  12. Lead, participate and involve in local or regional commercial projects.

What we are looking for

The successful Channel Director, Modern Trade should have experience in modern trade management and sales leadership role in reputable FMCG industry.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10-15 years of experience in FMCG environment in a variety of sales/customer/marketing roles.

  • Modern Trade experiences in managing Malaysia key retailers.

  • Strong business and data acumen to identify trends and provide insights across categories and customers.

  • Execution excellence: ability to think strategically and initiate, develop and drive a business-wide process and a solution based ‘Can do’ approach.

  • Ability to work within a cross-functional set-up demonstrating strong influencing skills at all levels.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and lead a multi-cultural team.
