Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of manufacturing and plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
Direct, maintain and enforce the safety program to uphold standards & training for all maintenance personnel.
Monitor and maintain facility, manufacturing & support equipment including but not limited to: general building & grounds, water & sanitation systems, air & vacuum systems, power grid, HVAC systems, manufacturing equipment and maintenance shop equipment.
Supervise, schedule and direct maintenance personnel assuring adequate coverage to support operations and maintain the facility. Complete weekly timekeeping and vacation usage reporting.
Address, document and resolve colleague disciplinary and grievance issues.
Communicates regularly with all maintenance personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
Ensures all city, county, state, and federal regulations are met at all times.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including attendance and performance expectations.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Advance performance appraisal system to better provide objective vs subjective review-based competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance personnel. Providing annual performance appraisal and recommend job classification changes or corrective actions.
Lead the interview and new hire process. Document probationary period and recommend retention or release.
Expand and leverage computerized maintenance management system. Track, analyze and improve critical KPI’s (e.g., % planned, schedule compliance, # call backs, % engagement). Maintain history of operation and facility equipment.
Develop an ongoing education program that ensures maintenance personnel is adequately trained, equipped and motivated to accomplish their duties in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
Maintain and update operating & training manuals for the maintenance department.
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum of five years successfully supervising maintenance personnel and managing a maintenance program. A successful candidate will have to support related education and hands-on experience.
Experience and a solid working knowledge of facility-related maintenance items (e.g., HVAC, cooling towers, chillers, heat pumps, plumbing, compressors, driers, fork trucks, building & grounds, 3 phase and high voltage systems).
Experience with computerized maintenance management software. Demonstrated ability to leverage the software to improve department's KPIs.
Strong leadership skills (communications, conflict resolution, motivation) with a proven ability to work dynamically with all levels of the organization. Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of technical staff.
Able to read and interpret schematics (electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical) and technical documents (safety, operating, troubleshooting and maintenance manuals).
Working knowledge of electrical and electronic controls, circuits, pneumatic equipment, camera systems, robotics, PLC/PC and communications, drives, motors, and sensors.
Self-motivated and flexible, able to work with minimal supervision and strong multi-tasking abilities.
Ability to manage large, complex projects independently.
Exceptional troubleshooting, organizational and short-term/long-term planning skills.
Solid understanding of NEC electrical, environmental and OSHA regulations.
Proficiency in using basic computer software including Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel & Outlook.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
Preferred Skills and Experience
Project management, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing training
Experience working with high speed, automated manufacturing and packaging equipment
SAP, Microsoft Access, Solidworks skills or experience with similar programs
Working Relationships & Environment
Reports to Plant Manager
Interface with hourly colleagues, shift Supervisors, Engineers, Quality Control Technicians and other plant personnel
Work takes place in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, clean & climate-controlled production environment
Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including hearing protection in certain departments
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently 25 pounds, and occasionally 50 pounds
Regularly required to stand and walk
Use of hands/fingers to grasp or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
Vision abilities include color vision, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
This position will require the need to periodically work on all shifts and weekends
