Energizer Manufacturing Engineer in Portage, Wisconsin

Position Summary
Support the qualification and implementation of new battery designs and processes into production. Improve and maintain manufacturing processes in assigned department. Balance daily manufacturing problem solving with development of longer-term improvements in cost, quality, and efficiency.
Accountabilities
Interact with internal and external stakeholders to resolve problems and coordinate technical activities
Utilize/develop new technologies & methods to improve product quality, increase efficiency, and reduce costs
Participate in problem solving teams to identify root cause, implement corrective actions, and verify efficacy
Assess resources and provide information on issues, project status and schedules and daily production status
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including attendance and performance expectations
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required
Specific Accountabilities
Design, conduct, and analyze statistically valid experiments to test proposed improvements, qualify new materials, and increase understanding of process
Work closely with R&D, Quality and Engineering to coordinate experimental trial work
Provide feedback to upstream in-house suppliers (molding, metal stamping, battery assembly processes)
Address and resolve process, system or equipment issues on manufacturing lines throughout the facility
Develop process work instructions and reaction plans, train production workers and quality specialists on methods, inspection, and workflow functions. Analyze SPC data to identify process improvement opportunities.
Assist R&D and manufacturing in development of quality control plans and assessment of suppliers
Provide engineering support on off hours, including weekends
Required Skills and Experience
Education – A technical or engineering degree or a 2-year technical degree with equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical systems is required.
0 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or research environment. Also taking into consideration completed internships and co-op experiences.
Self-motivated and flexible, able to work with minimal supervision and strong multi-tasking abilities
Ability to manage projects independently
Good organizational skills and able to manage competing priorities.
Ability to analyze and interpret statistical process control (SPC) data
Proficiency using computer software (all basic office applications)
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
Preferred Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Industrial etc.)
Process and/or Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated experience leading projects
Statistical design and analysis of experiments experience
Minitab, Microsoft Access, Infinity QS, Solidworks, SAP skills or experience with similar programs
Working Relationships & Environment

Reports to Process Engineering Manager
Interface with hourly colleagues, shift Supervisors, Engineers, Quality Control Technicians and R&D Engineers.
Work Environment
Work takes place in fast-paced, deadline oriented, clean & climate-controlled production environment
Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including hearing protection in certain departments
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently 25 pounds, and occasionally 50 pounds
Some travel may be required
Regularly required to stand and walk
Use of hands/fingers to grasp or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
Vision abilities include color vision, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
This position may require the need to periodically work overtime, including weekends
