Position Summary

The Senior Plant Accountant is a core member of the EMEA Integrated Supply Chain F&C team at the Rassau Plant. The ISC F&C team provides analysis and decision support to Leadership for various operations including product costing, financial reporting, forecast and budgeting.  Primary duties of this role will be to lead product costing, month-end closing and annual budget processes.

Universal Accountabilities

  • Financial Management and Reporting

o Support internal partners, other departments, management, and external parties with data and analysis requests.

o Prepare monthly closing journal entries and take ownership of investigating/resolving odd results in a timely manner.

o Prepare detailed account analysis reports for the Plant Balance Sheet.

o Respond timely to both internal and external audit requests.

o Prepare some month end, quarterly and year end reports.

o Prepare quarterly forecast and annual budget requirements in support of developing product standard costs. Monitor actual results against budget.

o Execute the timeline by developing departmental and location budgets and holding resources accountable to requirements.

o Drive and support continuous improvement by challenging the status quo, supporting management initiatives and developing & documenting new processes.

o Assist in with other locations as needed and assist with accounting department projects.

  • Inventory and costing

o Execution of the standard costs process.

o Monitor cost systems and inventory movements for financial reporting.

o Identify, investigate and resolve costing and labor variances with different groups.

  • Others

o Decision Support - provides business decision support through ownership of costing and any other relevant ad-hoc analysis. Make recommendations and drive improved performance.

o Compliance - Ensuring that all aspects of sourcing accounting including inventory valuation and other appropriate balance sheet provisions are consistent with local and U.S. GAAP, SOX requirements and follow all corporate policies.

o Processes and Systems – Review and develop existing systems, tools and processes to ensure; Internal Controls are effective, the integrity of financial information, and that services provided to the business are efficient and cost effective.


Required Skills and Experience

  • BS in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • MBA or advanced certification (e.g. CPA, CIMA, etc.) a plus, but not required

  • Strong manufacturing background

  • Proficient in understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), US GAAP a big plus; comfortable in review and analysis of plant financial statements

  • Experience in cost accounting and building product costs a plus

  • Strong user of Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP a plus

  • Ideal candidate attributes include ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, intelligent, self-starter, independent thinker, quick learner, excellent/pro-active communicator, and good team member

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to synthesize and effectively convey findings to management and functional areas.

  • Experience effectively working across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge.

  • Highly organized, with excellent time management skills in order to manage deadlines and multiple projects effectively and efficiently.


Working Relationships & Environment

  • Reports to Senior Manager, EMEA Integrated Supply Chain Finance & Controllership.

  • Key relationships internally will include Work collaboratively with Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Supervisors and Hourly colleagues, local affiliate Finance & Controllership teams and Internal Audit.

  • External engagement will include External Audit, local Professional advisors and Outsourcing partners.
