Position Summary
Based in Brazil, and reporting to the Associate Manager, Trade Compliance Americas, the Trade Compliance Administrator (4C) is a support role in the Regional Trade Compliance organization. The purpose of this position is to ensure the company’s processes, internal controls and reporting are compliant with the customs and trade laws.
This position will provide support of trade compliance activities through the analysis of trade data, application of comprehensive trade compliance knowledge and regulations, engagement with customs brokers and external partners to drive procedures and compliance adherence, whilst continuously assess potential compliance risks and opportunities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
Administer trade compliance activities to ensure compliance with all Brazilian import and export laws & regulations
Work with internal stakeholders to support trade requirements for the business
Provide support for trade compliance controls and programs.
Support organization in performing tasks and adhering to the trade compliance processes, procedures and tools
Support the process for Duty Drawback and Determination of Origin
Risk Management
Identify and assess risks associated with international trade activities.
Implement actions to mitigate compliance risks.
Conduct imports post-entry and export filing reviews to ensure accuracy and adherence to trade compliance policies and procedures.
Customs Broker Management:
Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate smooth and compliant import/export operations.
Support on issues related to customs clearance.
Monitor customs broker performance by capturing key performance indicators and leveraging the Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) as benchmarks, participating in monthly operational reviews and quarterly business reviews.
Administer and validate duty transactions and electronic payments as needed
Training and Education:
- Support development of trade compliance training materials and resources if required.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain records of all relevant import and export transactions in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Process Improvement:
- Identify process inefficiencies, compliance risk or redundant work and develop automated or semi-automated solutions to mitigate risk.
Collaboration:
Work closely with various departments, including logistics, supply chain, legal, and finance, to ensure integrated compliance efforts.
Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives related to trade compliance.
Communicate with internal stakeholder’s relevant trade compliance requirements critical for the successful and efficient execution of their business.
Ensure accuracy of trade compliance data in enterprise systems.
Support on import duty projections as required
What we are looking for
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or 1-2+ years trade compliance or related experience with a foundational understanding of Brazilian customs regulations
Ability to collaborate and build trust with peers, leaders, and functional partners.
Aptitude for data analysis, capable of interacting with diverse data sets to extract and articulate key insights.
Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work proactively.
Written and verbal fluency in English.
MS Office - Intermediate/ Advanced Excel.
