Position Summary

The Assistant Category Development Manager provides reporting category trends to Energizer’s retailer partners focusing primarily on Automotive Products. This role has responsibility for analyzing and identifying key trends and opportunities in each segment of business where Energizer competes: Automotive Products, Batteries and Flashlights. This position will also lead the development and process of customer category line reviews and be the expert in the customer’s category as well as the key strategic leader to assist with the development of their strategies.

Accountabilities

  • Analysis and decision making – Leads assessment, analysis, & insight generation. Owns customer category management & analytics, leveraging syndicated and customer POS systems.

  • Teamwork - work well with others to ensure the team’s effectiveness in reaching its desired outcomes

  • Achieving Results - set standards and goals for both themselves and the team that will result in achieving and exceeding business plans and providing maximum return on investment.

  • Direct account responsibility with frequent, ongoing customer face-to-face interaction.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Act as the category leader with the customer to help develop category strategy based on insights and market trends

  • Support the customer category line review process

  • Design, develop and maximize in-store assortment and planograms

  • Conduct competitive analysis that identifies competitor strategies, strengths, and weaknesses

  • Responsible for the identification and tracking of key trends

  • Conduct ad hoc reporting and analysis as required

  • Complete ad tracking for channel/ retailers

  • May perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience

  • BA/BS required; Marketing/Business Administration preferred

  • Proven ability to work effectively with teams, strong communication and interpersonal skills including presentation and relationship building is essential

  • 2-3 years category management, sales experience, or relevant job experience

  • Outstanding written & verbal communication skills

  • Experience in developing & delivering compelling selling stories/presentations

  • Technically skilled with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and SharePoint

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Category/sales analytics experience

  • Consumer products industry experience or background

  • Syndicated data experience (NPD, IRI/Nielsen scan & panel platforms)

  • Proficiency in JDA space planning software preferred

Working Relationships & Environment

  • The role will be remote

  • Preferred Markets: St. Louis, MO; Minneapolis, MN; Memphis, TN
