Position Summary

The Sr. Manager, Sales & Operations Planning is a critical position responsible for the successful application of the S&OP process globally. The role is responsible for leading and improving the global S&OP process. This includes owning the cadence, facilitation and adherence to commitments made through the S&OP process. This person keeps participants in the process on track and moving toward the resolution of demand and supply plans for the defined cadence.


  • S&OP Meeting Facilitation: Facilitate regional S&OP meetings, ensuring that all information is presented, all stakeholders are engaged, decisions are made and execution plans articulated with owners and completion dates. Follow up and hold appropriate personnel accountable for agreed-upon action items.

  • Sustain and Improve the Process:Ensure that the S&OP process is sustained and effectively yields desired results. Review the S&OP process to ensure its alignment with contemporary best practices and is suitable for our dynamic business needs

  • Product Changes Roadmaps: Ensure that portfolio changes are planned with a multifunctional team. This includes new product introduction (NPI) and discontinuation plans. Ensure that NPI and discontinuation plans have been properly communicated and are included as input to the demand planning process.

  • Demand Reviews: Ensure the demand review process happens on time, helping the multifunctional team to comply with the requirements and actively participate and contribute as per their defined roles.

  • Supply Reviews: Ensure that the supply review process is followed and is provided as input to the S&OP step of the process. Make sure that supply constraints are clearly spelled out with options to make trade-offs

Specific Accountabilities

  • Manage all strategic S&OP processes, ensuring balance of demand and supply while optimizing company profitability

  • Monitor the demand plan performance throughout the month to provide detailed input to Sales and Marketing management for use in demand review and S&OP meetings

  • Evaluate the supply plan to the actual physical deployment of inventory across the network and inventory systems

  • Develop capacity planning process to align and balance supply with demand to provide input for labor and equipment requirements for short and midterm planning

  • Map the supply model (make to order, finish to order, make to stock) based on business rules, forecast demand and historical sales performance

  • Develops and maintains models and analytics as enabling tools for tactical and strategic use

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain team to optimize network inventory including analysis of excess, slow-moving and obsolete inventory

  • Ensure all data generated via S&OP is timely and accurate and shared with the appropriate personnel

  • Hold contributing personnel, including leadership, to account for agreed actions, mitigation of risk and realization of opportunities as identified in the S&OP process. Escalate as appropriate

  • Generate scenarios based on various sources of data to provide options

  • Influence senior leaders across Energizer

  • Manage designated team including the hiring of new talent, conducting performance reviews/conversations, creating development and succession plans, and providing regular feedback

  • Ensures team members are trained and proficient in the use of corporate and department tools and technology

  • Redesigns the department to better meet long-term objectives

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Engineering. MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum of seven years of experience with four years in S&OP, demand and/or supply planning

  • Knowledge and experience in SAP, Integrated Business Planning (IBP) highly sought and/or MRP and ERP systems inventory control, materials required planning, demand planning, and advanced supply chain planning and analytics

  • Deep knowledge in planning processes: demand planning, supply planning, new products introduction, material planning and S&OP process

  • Strong skills as a meeting facilitator with the ability to keep a meeting on track while engaging all stakeholders and driving to a set of decisions that can be executed in the business

  • Proven ability to communicate with stakeholders across the organization, including listening to understand multiple viewpoints and their relevance to the success of S&OP outcomes

  • Skilled at working with teams of people with disparate opinions and agendas to develop common outcomes, strategies, and plans. Builds a sense of team goals, focusing team toward those ends while balancing trade-offs in each stakeholder community

  • Is a change agent and not satisfied with the status quo and works proactively to continually improve

  • Focused on ensuring that all data and activities are managed at an appropriate level of detail to ensure an accurate demand and supply plan

  • Focuses on most important and relevant topics through identification of impact on business results

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • CPG background preferred

  • Exposure and understanding of global supply chain dynamics and considerations

  • Influential leadership of the global organization and senior management

Working Relationships & Environment

  • Reports directly to Senior Director End to End Auto Care Supply Chain

  • Will closely partner with Sales, Customer Supply Chain, Internal/External Suppliers, Operations, Procurement and Finance

Work Environment

  • Willing to travel domestically & Internationally – up to 25% in total
