Position Summary

The Business Director France/Italy develops, directs and controls the sales business strategies and activities for the two markets to achieve revenue, sales and profit targets. S/He coordinates and works collaboratively with functional representatives to ensure there is ongoing support and alignment with commercial targets. S/He influences a category management approach that increases category share, drives optimum distribution and develops competitive advantage. S/He actively contributes to the strategic direction and positive transformation of the business as a core member of the Modern Markets Leadership Team. S/He acts as the company representative with major external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Set and achieve the sales, financial planning and customer contribution target for the markets’ entire product portfolio in all distribution channels

  • Consistently drive business retention and growth in line with the business plans

  • Empower team members to make them accountable for

  • Monitoring performance of commercial activities using key metrics, including targeted reports to senior management

  • Customer portfolio prioritization and management in line with Customer Segmentation framework

  • Developing and implementing account/channel strategies that will lead to transformational growth in priority accounts whilst maintaining the base business

  • Overseeing negotiations with customers and negotiating execution in store

  • Taking the lead in developing the commercial strategy and preparing pricing strategy, discounts and other trade terms for the markets in line with Global guidance

  • Accurate forecasting in collaboration with Integrated Supply Chain teams

  • Superior talent management of their teams

  • Actively drive engagement within their enlarged teams, through focus on key engagement principles and action plans

  • Through a personal commitment to openness to learn and change, bring the organization with them at all times, be it transformational times or times of continuous improvements

  • Create the conditions for enhanced internal cross-functional teamwork in order to drive continuous improvements.

  • As a member of the Modern Markets Leadership Team, contribute to the overall strategy and development of the region, work collaboratively with the Vice President Modern Markets and serve as a catalyst for improvement and sharing of new/innovative practices.

  • Talent Management

  • Review regularly commercial capabilities and business fit to form a solid platform for growth in target areas

  • Motivate, develop and align the capability of the commercial team to the business’ needs. Identify and develop successors to key roles, proactively drive and manage both performance and non-performance with all team members

Representation: Represent the company with major external contacts. Develop and maintain top level relationships with key customers ensuring the provision of excellent customer service.

What we are looking for

  • 15 Years FMCG Sales

  • Proven experience as business director or other relevant role

  • Proven experience in managing top relationships with key external stakeholders

  • Familiarity in working in a complex matrix environment

  • Track record contributing at strategic levels with leadership ability to motivate and inspire teams

  • Household sector experience (min 2 yrs.) - desirable
