Position Summary

The Chief of Staff partners with organizational leadership to ensure they are advancing the strategic and operational priorities of the organization. This role engages with the Executive Leadership Team to drive the organization’s agenda, ensuring resources are deployed against the organization’s hardest questions and problems. The Chief of Staff operates in a generalist capacity, handling a wide range of responsibilities and addressing any issues as they arise. This position is not a project manager that executes initiatives, a decision maker at the executive level, or a right-hand person for any one member of the team. The Chief of Staff has a strong understanding of how the organization operates and commands the respect of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the development of the organization’s strategic agenda and ensure the “team” and the organization are positioned to address what matters

  • Coordinate Strategic Planning, including driving strategic discussions at the Executive Leadership Team level, setting expectations/calendars to deliver an aligned upon plan to the Board on an annual basis

  • Plan and lead the Cross-functional Connect meetings

  • Participate and strategically influence the organization through provocations and by providing insights

  • Ensure all interaction with the organization are productive by driving the right conversations, engaging the right experts to address topics, and driving decisions

  • Actively manage the Executive Leadership Team’s agenda and clarity of deliverables, defining the information/attendees required to advance our priorities

  • Ensure action items are assigned/completed; communicate information to the organization as needed (e.g. decisions)

  • Make connections to ensure appropriate information is communicated within and beyond the “team”

  • Work behind the scenes to identify and solve issues that may impede progress

  • Identify opportunities for improvement relating to Executive Leadership Team and cross-functional interactions/communication

  • Provide support to the CEO as requested/assigned

  • May perform other duties as assigned

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years related experience, particularly working with and influencing executive leaders.

  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing), influence, and garner support across all leaders, functions, and levels of the organization without direct ownership

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous, “always on” environment

  • Executive presence and strong emotional intelligence

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to lead both small and enterprise-wide engagements, facilitate meetings, mentor teams, and effectively manage stakeholder escalations.

  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to gather relevant data and information, actively listen, verbalize ideas, successfully negotiate difficult situations, and resolve conflict

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of finance concepts

  • Able to effectively analyze and interpret data

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

  • Fluent in English

  • Highly skilled in Excel and Power Point

  • Expertise in project / program management, developing processes, procedures, and reporting / analysis of such to enhance deliverables.

  • Strong presentation development and delivery skills.

  • Ability to mentor and coach others including those at higher levels of the organization.
