Position Summary
Purpose: Lead a team of high caliber master data management professionals who effectively work with business partners to deliver high quality, accurate, and timely data that standardizes and centralizes key processes.
The Sr. Manager of Master Data will identify opportunities to increase the efficiency of data processes by facilitating the elimination of duplicate data, eliminating duplicative processes, and centralizing the resolution of data discrepancies.
In this capacity, this position will coordinate with data stewards and data owners who will act as the key stakeholders in delivering accurate, trusted, and consistent data. As a team, the Sr. Manager of Data Management and the data stewards/owners will work to create a data culture that strives to standardize policies and procedures around the management of data as an enterprise asset.
This is a highly collaborative role and, as such, facilitates joint brainstorming and team collaboration. The Sr. Manager of Data Management will clearly communicate the importance of developing and enforcing standards for consistent, clean data. This leader works closely with her/his team and key stakeholders to establish enterprise processes.
Responsibilities
30% - Program Management: Aligns global data management vision and road maps to high priority, corporate projects and leads team in realizing successful implementations. Acts as cross-functional strategic partner in aligning program resources and priorities.
30% - Strategic Planning: Build a global master data management strategy built on business use cases that addresses people, process, technology, and data requirements. Lead team in developing and maintaining mid to long-range strategic road maps, identifying data inefficiencies, and driving program alignment across partner organizations from inception to implementation.
20% - Data Management Operations: Facilitates the development of a cross-functional global master data management organization that is comprised of workgroups (e.g., project teams), functional groups (e.g., data stewards/owners), stakeholders (e.g., decision makers).
10% - Communication: Develops and presents to multiple levels of stakeholders, cross-functional groups, peers, and functional groups of associates in support of special projects, strategic initiatives, and policy readouts.
10% - Coaching and Development: Communicates effectively as a leader to develop talent on the data management team and across the organization. Meets regularly with internal team members to ensure a consistent understanding of the core principles of data management and communication methods. Responsible for reviews and performance management of data management team.
What we are looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA is highly desirable
10+ years of relevant experience and proven track record in leveraging, managing, and delivering master data products to stakeholders throughout the organization.
Large scale ERP systems (SAP S4 and MDG is preferred)
Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form. The position is designed to interact with numerous departmental heads/managements aiding them in the proper application of data policies, leading to functional improvement. Will require the skill to communicate complex ideas effectively.
Must demonstrate a passion for research and data and be highly skilled in managing complex data environments to increase efficiencies and eliminate duplicate processes.
The candidate must also be highly skilled in the use of analytics toolsets, being able to identify and recommend complementary tools to provide governance of key data processes.
Will be self-motivated, proactive, taking initiative and have exceptional problem-solving skills. Must work comfortably in a cross-functional setting and with senior business executives. Take accountability for the business’s performance and have an ability to remain calm and composed under stress and uncertainty, inspiring the same in her/his team. Must also have a natural ability to make strong, lasting, and meaningful connection with others, which will aid in the execution of duties in this highly collaborative role.
