Position Summary

Buyer is deeply involved in conducting analysis to support category strategy development and execution. Buyer will support supplier relationship management and achievement of cost/performance targets. Buyer may lead category/supplier management for sub-categories and suppliers assigned to him or her.


  • Supports sourcing strategy development

  • Supports negotiations

  • Develops category and supplier profiles

  • Monitors supplier performance

  • Supports supplier relationship management

Specific Accountabilities

  • Supports sourcing strategy development - conducts opportunity analysis, data collection, etc.

  • Supports supplier negotiations – gathers commodity data, maintain cost models etc.; may lead or participate in negotiations

  • Conducts supply market analysis

  • Creates / maintains supplier profiles

  • Manages Procurement financial savings tracking

  • Manages Procurement performance metrics

  • Supports risk and compliance program management

  • Manages day-to-day supplier relationship activities

  • Executes product cycle plan projects

  • Executes sourcing projects

Required Skills and Experience

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Management

  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to drive change in a decentralized organization with minimum supervision

  • Experience in quantitative analysis using Microsoft Excel (beyond basic data entry)

  • Strong analytical thinking with demonstrated results

  • Ability to influence and work collaboratively with others

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to present ideas in business-friendly language

  • Ability to set priorities and make decisions
