Position Summary

The Accountant is responsible for assisting the Senior Accountant and Accounting manager in performing general accounting duties related to month end close and Balance Sheet reconciliations.  The position requires providing quality financial accounting services, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles and company policies as they impact both the management reporting and data that are used for legal, financial and statutory reporting.

Accountabilities

• Works with manager on special projects, as needed

• Partners with other members of the accounting team on cross functional initiatives

Specific Accountabilities

• Responsible for preparing monthly journal entries and US/Canada Balance Sheet account reconciliations and account analysis

• Daily Sales reconciling from source invoice system to general ledger system

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for use by various departments including but not limited to: Tax, Financial Reporting, Finance and Senior Management

• Fixed Asset ledger management for St. Louis Corporate office

• Using the company's Accounting policies and procedures and computerized systems, analyze and prepare correct input, analyze output data and reports, make timely and accurate corrections, and understand how the various computing and manual systems interface with each other

• Assist in Accounting department projects that include acquisition integration and IT system implementation

• Respond timely as well as provide services and records for inspection by internal and external auditors to facilitate operational and year-end audits as well as unscheduled statutory audits by federal or provincial agencies

Required Skills and Experience

• BS or BA in Accountancy required

• Minimum two years' experience in Accounting department

• Proficient in understanding of US GAAP; comfortable in review and analysis of financial statements; some exposure to consolidations/eliminations and foreign currencies a plus

• Highly proficient with Excel

• Experience with SAP

• Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word and Access

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all level; both within and outside the organization

• Capable of analyzing issues and skill to solve problems efficiently

• Skillful in communicating, planning, organizing and prioritizing

• Capacity to interact easily with people, computer and business systems

• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

• Ability to work well both as part of a team and independently

• Outstanding organizational and time management skills; the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of both Canadian local/legal Accounting/Tax Principles, accounting theory and trends a plus

• Prior consumer packaged goods experience

• Position will be working with Canadian employees as well as internal customers such as Finance, Sales and Marketing

• Partner with Internal and External Audit

Work Environment

• The role will be based in St. Louis, MO

• Little to No Travel

• Position may require sitting at desk for long periods of time
