Energizer is seeking a regulatory counsel who will be an engaged team player with significant business and legal experience and will drive legal compliance with global laws and regulations. The candidate will be advising the business on day-to-day issues that arise relating to highly regulated subject areas and various consumer protection issues.
The regulatory counsel will be proactive and engaged, able to work well cross-functionally both internally and externally, excited about the business, and ready to roll his or her sleeves up and dig into tough legal problems to reach a creative solution. The ideal candidate will be sensitive to Energizer’s operational and business needs while providing clear and meaningful legal advice.
Review global legislative and regulatory proposals
Work with internal business partners to understand regulatory impact throughout the product lifecycle, propose creative and effective solutions to address impact, convey Energizer’s position as appropriate, and assist with product compliance activity that follows
Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, consumer protection, and privacy laws and regulations to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound regulatory advice
Partner with the broader Legal and Regulatory team to share information about regulatory changes and product development to facilitate support across the team
Build relationships with and utilize lobbyists, trade associations, and other external partners to appropriately shape the external environment
Represent Energizer before regulators by weighing in on regulatory proposals
Required Skills and Experience
D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
5+ years of legal experience
Proactive and preventative lawyering mindset
Learning agility, including a demonstrated willingness to develop expertise in new subject matter areas
Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals at all levels in and out of the organization
Ability to work effectively on multiple projects at once
Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and deliver an excellent work product in a fast-paced and rapidly growing dynamic company
