Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the General Accounting team with significant visibility to many other departments within the organization. Primary duties will be to support the accounting manager as it relates to the preparation and analysis of the U.S. financial statements, while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company policies. Incumbent will also function as a user expert for SAP OTC.

Accountabilities

Specific Accountabilities

  • Support internal partners, other departments, management, and external parties with data and analysis requests

  • Prepare monthly closing journal entries

  • Review detailed account analysis and reconciliations for the U.S. Balance Sheet

  • Review/analyze monthly P&L Statement and other reports for use by the Tax Department and other areas

  • Review and analyze consolidated financial statements

  • Prepare monthly account roll forward information

  • Prepare markup adjustment for US products exported to worldwide affiliates

  • Review and analyze of intercompany profit eliminations

  • Respond timely to both internal and external audit requests

  • Prepare quarterly and year end reports

  • Assist in the annual budget process

  • Drive and support continuous improvement by supporting management initiatives and

  • developing & documenting new processes

  • Lead Accounting department projects that include acquisition integration and IT system implementation

  • Responsibility as a user expert of SAP OTC entails the creation of cost centers and internal orders within SAP that correspond to the predetermined mapping logic in order to allow cost collection in organized manner

  • Assist in ad hoc reporting for management

  • Responsible for the monthly system interfaces and Hyperion upstream process

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (4 year undergraduate) in Accounting or related field required; advanced degree and advanced certification (e.g. CPA, etc.) preferred, not required

  • Minimum 4-6 years' related accounting experience

  • Proficient in understanding of US GAAP; experience in review and analysis of financial statements; some exposure to consolidations

  • Knowledge of SOX and Audit controls/requirements

  • Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including high proficiency with Excel and proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Access

  • Working knowledge of the Hyperion Financial Management reporting application, preferred, not required

  • Capacity to be flexible in a changing environment

  • Capable of balancing priorities, as well as maintaining a strict level of confidentiality

  • Making positive and proactive contributions to decision processes (e.g., suggesting alternatives and more effective/efficient ways to work through processes)

  • Self-starter that works well in a team environment

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels both within and outside the organization

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior consumer packaged goods experience

  • Experience with ERP (such as Peachtree, Sage, Great Plains, SAP).

  • Working knowledge of intercompany eliminations and foreign exchange rates

  • Reports into Associate Manager, Accounting

  • Position will be working with internal customers such as Finance, Sales and Marketing

  • Partners with Internal and external Audit

  • May lead and direct the work of others

     

Work Environment

  • The role will be based in St. Louis, MO

  • Some travel required

  • Position may require sitting at desk for long periods of time
