Position Summary

The Data Privacy Program Sr. Manager is responsible for Energizer's global privacy program. The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge and in-depth understanding of domestic and global privacy laws and industry best practices related to data privacy. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills and the ability to analyze and make effective, business-centric recommendations to business leaders and senior management.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a strategic and comprehensive enterprise-wide privacy program, designed to ensure proper protection of personal data and privacy-related information.

  • Manage a global privacy program that is resilient to changes in business practices, regulations, and privacy expectations.

  • Distill complex compliance requirements into tasks and processes business personnel can easily understand and implement.

  • Develop and execute project plans to implement compliance requirements and privacy program maturity.

  • Maintain privacy program documentation, including records of processing, privacy notices, policies, procedures, and data protection guides.

  • Perform privacy impact assessments and advise the business on privacy controls to put in place to manage privacy risks.

  • Conduct regular privacy program assessments to identify gaps in compliance and risks to the business, and work with the business to mitigate findings.

  • Maintain a Data Subject Rights program and respond to employee and consumer privacy requests.

  • Work cross-functionally to develop, implement, and maintain a Privacy by Design program.

  • Ensure the company adheres to cross-border transfer requirements.

  • Monitor emerging privacy concerns and/or threats, respond to legislative changes through regular reviews and revisions of privacy policies and internal processes, and advise relevant stakeholders on appropriate courses of action.

  • Assess and ensure third party processors are accountable to all privacy and security requirements.

  • Lead training and awareness efforts as needed and/or required to increase employee understanding of privacy policies, data handling practices, and legal obligations.

  • Investigate privacy incidents and successfully execute the data breach response plan.

  • Monitor for regulatory changes, as well as prepare the business for future requirements.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge by working cross-functionally to align privacy requirements to the IT strategy, including cloud technologies, CRM platform, digital marketing, business intelligence, and employment processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills and ability to analyze and make effective, business-centric recommendations to business leaders and senior management.

  • Data privacy program-related relevant certifications (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, etc.).

  • Strong background in project management and implementation preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to understand and tailor messages to various audiences.

  • Ability to prioritize time spent on matters by value and risk.

  • Global mindset and ability to work virtually with business colleagues in other regions.

  • High initiative, self-starter.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, information security or a related field required.

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) is not required, but J.D. applicants are welcomed.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in privacy, data protection, and/or information assurance with expertise and experience building, implementing, and maintaining data privacy, data protection, and/or information assurance programs required.

  • Minimum of five years mentoring, leading, supervising, or managing experience required.

  • Extensive knowledge and in-depth understanding of domestic and global privacy laws and industry best practices related to data privacy; experience GDPR and/or CCPA required.
