- Based in St. Louis, Missouri, and reporting to the Sr. Manager Supplier Quality and Development, the Sr. Engineer Supplier Quality and Development leads regional efforts to improve external supplier quality, performance, process efficiency and ensure timely project completions. Ensure Energizer Plants and the supply base understand and are in compliance with Energizer requirements. The successful candidate requires a high degree of technical expertise in materials and manufacturing processes, and the ability to mentor/coach assigned Engineers to develop their skills and abilities.
Auditing – Champion the audit process and conduct/ follow up on supplier on-site audits, supplier self-audits, supplier re-audits, technical audits, process audits and supplier readiness reviews.
To work with the supply base to improve current capabilities and to prepare for future supplier capability needs.
Champion SQD policies - follow, implement and monitor policy activities to verify the results for effectiveness.Assist in driving improvements in the policies and policy compliance.
Product Approval – champion the product approval process to verify the product/ material meet the design inputs.
Training – Provide training/coaching to team and suppliers as needed to improve current and needed capabilities to meet Energizer needs.
Champion the CAR process for Third Party Manufacturing (TPM) suppliers and with the Plants and WHs.
Address TPM cusomter compliants that are the result of supplier issues.
Address and resolve escalated supplier issues.
Reports - Track, report and follow up on quality metrics for assigned regional TPM and RM suppliers.React to risk issues identified in the reports to correct and improve supplier performance.
Monitor and improve supplier performance.
Schedule and track surveillance testing for Third Party Manufacturing products.
Training - Provide training/coaching to team and suppliers as needed to ensure compliance with Energizer SQD policies.
Reports - Track, report and follow up on quality metrics for assigned RM and TPM suppliers or categories.React to risk issues identified in the reports to correct and improve supplier performance.
Utilize Program Management concepts to control and guide SQD requirements in programs and supplier improvement activities.
Provide project updates as required to the Project Leader and other stakeholders.
Mentoring and Engineer Development
- Mentor/coach assigned Engineers to develop their skills and abilities.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in quality management, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, operations, business management or other related degree. An advanced degree is preferred. S/he will have a minimum of 5 years addressing and improving supplier quality and development to improve and expand supplier capability and capacity and a minimum of 5 years in project management.
Proficient with data analytics and in quality analysis tools such as 8D, PPAP, 7 basic Quality Tools, and control plans.
In-depth understanding of manufacturing engineering and practices including lean and six-sigma.
Excellent communication and organization skills in a multinational environment.
Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
Able to lead and facilitate cross functional teams.
Ability to guide, coach, and train Energizer associates and suppliers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and statistical analysis applications.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Internal or external auditor certification
Professional Quality Certifications (ASQ CQE, CRE, CQA or Lean/6 Sigma, etc.)
Possess process optimization certifications (Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent)
Fluency in English and regional language(s) (written and spoken).
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Working Relationships & Environment
Ability and willingness to travel regionally and internationally as much as 50% of the time.
Flexible work schedule to accommodate virtual meetings with other regions.
