Position Summary
As a contributing member of the Engineering team, the Electrical Staff Engineer will work on key business objectives which lead to new or improved Global Auto Care systems, instructions, materials and/or manufacturing processes to give the facility marketable cost/performance advantages. With demonstrated mastery in designing and developing electrical systems and equipment, this position will contribute significantly to the technical base of assigned controls projects and provides technical consultation and direction for other Control Engineers.
Responsibilities
Provide technical services, which may be varied and major in scope and complex in nature
Design, plan and coordinate major engineering projects and consult on varied projects and problems
Work closely with Value Stream Managers to ensure Operational Performance is met or exceeds Business plan
Plays a key role in the development and mentoring of the engineering and maintenance group
Constantly interact with team leaders and value stream managers to ensure daily performance is met
Develop training materials and provide the necessary training for the production assistants to operate and changeover the equipment
Make determinations for equipment, staff, and training needs
Develop strategy for communizing equipment and OEM to reduce Plant complexity and spare parts
Capable of managing new projects/initiatives from beginning to a successful FAT/SAT
Resolves technical problems through interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating systems which have a significant impact on products, processes, and constructions from a cost/performance, environmental, and/or safety perspective
Provide expert engineering advice on existing equipment designs or existing procedures
Generates and evaluates new engineering or technical information which contributes to the technical base of assigned projects
Provides regular written documentation and oral presentations of progress on engineering assignments
Prepares reports and recommendations to supervisors and maintains pertinent records, drawings, and files
Prepares Technology Transfer documentation and accountable for developing and conducting Equipment Validation Plans
Includes process improvement, equipment development/design, equipment procurement, equipment prove-in, process optimization, cost reduction efforts, financial analyses, as well as utilizing teamwork and other engineering system tools
Participate in LEAN activities for the Value Stream or Equipment Engineering in support of the waste reduction and continuous improvement effort
Provides technical direction setting expertise to engineering managers in the assigned program area and as requested in other areas
Keeps abreast of new developments in technology and engineering specialty areas through professional contacts, technical papers, journals, seminars, etc., and recommends adoption of new innovations when applications are feasible
Participates in safety programs via regular assignments while complying with OSHA and EBC standards, provides input into performance evaluations of related subordinates, collaborates with supervisor, co-workers, and teams to meet departmental and company objectives
Collaborates with vendors to ensure accurate implementation of the design and manages compliance testing of electro-mechanical products
Develops strategies to enhance existing systems and performs regular maintenance checks
Good understanding of modern-day machine controls, including motor control circuits, PLCs, HMI and safety circuits
Capable of supporting advance fault finding above level of maintenance personnel
Able to read and interpret electrical control drawings including PLC programs and ladder logic
What we are looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
8-10 years engineering experience with a demonstrated progression into more senior level positions in a manufacturing facility
Fault finding/troubleshooting skills, with basic programming skills on Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Siemens and Ladder PLCs
Robotics experience
Understands both the electrical and mechanical aspects of systems and equipment
Project management, mentoring and leadership skills
Ability to coordinate large scale, complex projects (1M–3M) with minimal guidance
Lean manufacturing experience and mindset
