Position Summary

As a contributing member of the leadership team, The Environmental, Health and Safety Training Manager will lead the environmental, health and safety, (EHS) training function for the Global Auto Care Dayton facility.  This position will lead our efforts to provide a safe and healthy workplace for our employees while ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state and federal health and safety and environmental regulations. This position will also develop and lead training initiatives related to safety and other function in our Operations area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for environmental, health, safety and sustainability activities in support of local, group, and corporate initiatives

  • Collaborate with EHS teams locally and throughout Energizer to achieve our EHS goals

  • Develop, monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to EHS

  • Develop, plan, implement and manage policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations including facilitation and scheduling of Process Hazard Analyses, submittal of Risk Management Plan, and training of affected personnel and with regulatory agencies

  • Develop, plan, implement and manage programs to train managers and employees in work site safety and environmental practices, including but not limited to fire prevention, lockout/tagout, hazardous waste handling, spill prevention and control, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and hazard communication

  • Provide leadership and direction for the plant-wide Safety Committee, including facilitation of safety campaigns and safety-related communication

  • Serves as site emergency coordinator and create, implement and lead Emergency Action Plans; including coordination with local Police and Fire Departments, and scheduling of emergency drills

  • Conducts facility specific audits to review site EHS compliance and improvement plans; reports results to site and corporate leadership and implements correction and improvement procedures in collaboration with employees

  • Maintain certification of employees on motorized equipment ensuring that we are compliant with local, state, and federal guidelines

  • Perform, submit and maintain all environmental calculations and reporting as required by federal, state and local regulatory agencies

  • Coordinate and manage the disposal of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste and Non-Hazardous Waste streams within RCRA and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations

  • Coordinate and manage recycling program. Monitor waste streams for compliance with recycling protocols

  • In collaboration with appropriate leadership, assess EHS-related issues involving New Product Development and new chemical review

  • Lead Plant Workers’ Compensation function to provide accident-related information, corrective plans and return to work/modified work suggestion in an effort to reduce employee lost time

  • Use internal and external resources to lead and tactically produce training programs and coursework to meet Safety, and Dayton facility-based training needs

  • Document processes and creates work instructions and training material for all DC positions

  • Conducting post-learning assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs

  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of training resources and suppliers, material preparation, computerized training, program and participant tracking, and the training/education budget

  • Manage all training logistics, including the scheduling of training classes, all within established budget guidelines

  • Responsible for performing job analysis and task analysis, and pre- and post- performance evaluations to ensure Safety and Facilities training is positively influencing performance

  • Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health or related field

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an EHS role with demonstrated knowledge of applicable environmental health and safety regulations

  • Training and organizational development within a manufacturing facility experience

  • Detailed knowledge/experience with hazard chemicals

  • Financial acumen and budget analysis experience

  • Hands-on project management skills to execute as an individual contributor as well as team player
