Position Summary

As an Industrial Engineer at our Dayton location, you will provide Industrial Engineering services to specialized projects of various levels of complexity which lead to new or improved systems, constructions, materials or manufacturing processes. Through collaboration with other engineering and technical personnel, you will participate in providing engineering assistance to Technology or Production Engineering projects to support the manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Define and recommend technical approaches to assigned projects

  • Provide cost benefit analysis by understanding tooling and material for equipment definition and purchase

  • Plan ergonomic features of new/revised work stations/jobs

  • Provide industrial engineering support to project teams with little oversight

  • Prepare detailed layouts of limited facilities using good Industrial Engineering/ergonomics principles

  • Plan ergonomic features of new/revised work stations/jobs

  • Revise job evaluations when required by changes in job content or other circumstances

  • Design and perform work measurement projects to achieve desired objectives

  • Develop Normal Cost data (i.e. routings) such as expense rates, staffing, usage, scrap from available sources

  • Perform Make vs. Buy analysis using available quotations, Normal Costs, and freight costs

  • Prepare CAR models for simple projects involving a single site

  • Perform time, MTM/MOST, work sampling, or other studies

  • Keep abreast of new developments in technology and engineering specialty area and recommends adoption of new innovations when applications are feasible

  • Generate and evaluate new engineering or technical information which contributes to technical base of assigned projects

  • Provide basic engineering advice on existing processes or existing procedures

  • Prepares reports and recommendations to supervisors with written documentation and oral presentations of progress on engineering assignments

  • Maintain pertinent records and files

  • Prepare Technology Transfer documentation

  • Assist technicians and skilled trades as well as other engineers and collaborates with co-workers in meeting objectives of group, team and department

  • Participate in safety program, and provides Equipment Operating Instructions and training in work force to team leaders/supervisors, while complying with OSHA and EBM standards

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent (including engineering technology) or significant applicable experience

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment

  • Production capacity (production line) reporting experience

  • ERP system experience (SAP)

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Project

  • Understanding of Six Sigma, RCA, OEE and KPI’s for manufacturing plant

  • Ability to simultaneously handle a variety of projects or assignments of increasing responsibility

  • Cross-functional team leadership to accomplish objectives

  • Mentoring/development of Operators and Maintenance and consultant and contractor management experience

  • Financial and Project Management skills

  • Safe Work Practices including knowledge of NEC, OSHA, LOTO, Guarding, Hot Work, Safe Work

  • Planning, Execution, Monitoring, Reporting of PM, CM, and turnaround activities

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
