Position Summary

As a Material Coordinator at our Dayton, OH plant, you will be responsible for MRP and Inventory accuracy via end-of-job inventory reconciliation and investigations liaising between production schedulers, buyers, off-site warehouse personnel, material handlers and the receiving department to ensure materials are available when the line requires without downtime or shortages.

Responsibilities

  • Verify ownership of all material needed for production

  • Callout all schedule issues regarding raw material

  • Verify all leftover material from production runs have been returned to stock

  • Reconcile all material upon the completion of production runs

  • Ensure Inventory is accurate based on reconciliation within SAP

  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing storage trailer for just in time use of raw material and deliver sample requests for all departments

  • Plan material requirement (located in-house and off-site or incoming material from external sources) in accordance with the published production schedule

  • Reconcile the amount of material required to complete job orders, applying knowledge of product and mfg. processes

  • Highlight material needs, due dates, quantities via email, phone, or face to face conversation with the off-site personnel, buying team and receiving personnel

  • Utilize the company’s MRP system (SAP) to view system requirements, forecasts, usage, and safety stock (Days on hand) to determine appropriate levels of inventory in the plant

  • Produce and distribute bill of material/pick list documents for the materials handlers

  • Assist with the timely delivery/trailer movements from Supplier to the main plant for just in time use of raw components

  • Serve as main point of contact for backflush location inventory accuracy and maintaining routine and timely reconciliations at the end of production runs/jobs

  • Investigate variances, performs root cause analysis, and reports out scrap rates/inventory accuracy

  • Create STO (Stock Order Transfers) when required

  • Prepare basic reports utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Google Docs.) and SAP

  • Distribute daily shortage risk notifications to pertinent individuals (i.e. buyers, receiving, schedulers, production…etc.)

  • Assist with formulating, improving, and maintaining standard work for materials department

  • Escalate material issues with appropriate personnel and management so action plans can be created

  • Create production BOM’s based on production schedule

  • Backup and assist with other material coordination responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties, tasks and projects as assigned

What we are looking for

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 2+ years experience in a material, mfg. planning, receiving/inventory control position

  • Manufacturing experience or knowledge of a Lean Culture

  • Proficient in Excel

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to meet aggressive deadlines

  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills

  • Apply basic math concepts to tasks such as inventory control, material handling and tracking, and job order requirement planning

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Cross-functional communication with co-workers, suppliers and management

  • Ability to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions

  • Quickly adapt to changes in the schedule and effectively expedite where needed
