Position Summary

Device trends are driving the demand for batteries globally and the Key Account Manager (KAM) role will be responsible for delivering strong and sustainable growth and maintaining healthy margins for Energizer.

The role of the KAM is to achieve the defined business targets & goals with a key emphasis on driving growth through new business development and business acquisition especially in the OEM space as well as to maximize sales opportunities within the current customer base of both OEM and HAB customers.

To be successful, the KAM will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment & deliver on business results, execution of sales strategies, building strong relationships with customers in China/HK, along with some assigned territories outside of China as required (TBC).

To capitalize on changes in technology and corresponding battery requirements both in consumer and industrial products, the KAM must be kept abreast of the latest trends and insights within the markets. This will be achieved by frequent visits to the market to meet customers and attend trade shows/conferences externally and working with the sales support team, leveraging on the CRM system and referencing market/product research internally.

The KAM also works with the Global Accounts Team on global projects and prospects and providing specific local support to global accounts in China/Asia, ensuring that they are serviced with excellence and in line with Global contracts.

The KAM will be collaborating internally with various cross functional stakeholders such as Technical/R&D teams, Supply Chain, Finance and Marketing to provide technical and marketing support to customers, ensure supply chain continuity and zero disruption in product shipments to our customers while balancing and meeting internal controllership KPIs.

Given the scope, the KAM will need to commit to a certain amount of business travel within China and have excellent solution selling and market/segment evaluation skills. A major responsibility will be aggressively prospect for new business to build a strong pipeline for sustained growth a with relentless focus on winning in both the short-term and the long-term.

Responsibilities

Universal Accountabilities

  • Achieve assigned quarterly and annual financial goals & revenue targets for their assigned region with a strong understanding of market conditions and sales opportunities.

  • To maximize the existing pillars of the business, and constantly think of growth opportunities, add to the portfolio, and define the most effective go-to-market outcomes.

Provide regular market, competitive and industry updates.

  • Communicate clearly and regularly with all team members, both internal (EHI) and external (customers).

Specific Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement sales strategies and activities to achieve sales goals for assigned regions targeted at improving market penetration.

  • Customer development - maintain and grow existing business and develop new business that will lead to growth. Identify opportunities to improve market penetration with a focus on prospecting/winning new accounts through direct sales activities.

  • Business development - focus on growth opportunities especially in the OEM sector, strategically build and successfully capture new markets alongside business simplification and implementation of best practices.

  • Analyze sales statistics to formulate plans to drive growth.

  • Monitor competition in each market and develop strategies to minimize risk.

  • Maintain strong relationship with key decision makers from existing distributors and customers.

  • Support global accounts growth across assigned regions, partnering within the Global Account team.

  • Develop an accurate sales forecast and maintain effective communication with Customer Service, Supply/Demand Planning and Brand teams to deliver agreed sales and operation planning targets.

  • May also perform additional duties as assigned.

What we are looking for

Experience:

  • University degree or equivalent in commercial, engineering related subject.

  • Min 8 – 10 years of sales experience; expertise in electronics / industrial sales in the APAC region preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business/account plans.

  • Used to working in a multi-national, complex and matrix environment.

  • Experience of cross-functional team participation.

  • Proactive team player, meticulous and self-motivated.

  • Excellent track record of surpassing company objectives.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English / Mandarin + other Asian languages will be a plus.

Technical skills:

  • Commercial delivery through superior direct selling experience in industrial sales - Preference will be given to candidate with technical knowledge of batteries/components and technical selling.

  • Negotiation skills with key accounts and distributors.

  • Financial acumen.

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to make sound strategic decisions through incorporation of data from multiple sources and business judgment.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • MBA would be an asset.

  • China / APAC Regional account management experience would be an asset.

Working Relationships

  • This role reports to the Director, Sales – Global Professional, APAC Region.

  • Key relationships internally will include Marketing Team, Demand Planning Department, Finance and Supply Chain Team.

Work Environment

  • Ability to Travel as needed.
