Position Summary

Assume the role as a key member of the Energizer’s Hearing Aid Battery team which includes directing the efforts of professional, skilled and production workers toward project related goals. Primary focus is providing leadership by incorporating new technologies and methods to improve current production and measurement processes and contribute to Energizer’s intellectual property.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize or develop new technologies and methods to continuously improve product quality, increase department efficiency and reduce the costs related to the moulding operation.

  • Self-driven attitude with the desire to be the local ‘expert’ in the moulding functions and in understanding the chemical and process interactions well enough to be able to resolve issues and create improvement opportunities.

  • Assess resources and provide information on issues, project status and schedules, along with daily production status.

  • Develop process work instructions and reaction plans; train production workers and quality specialists on methods, inspection, and workflow functions. Analyze SPC data to identify process improvement opportunities.

  • Develop tool and mould base designs via coordination work with internal and external experts. Communicate requirements to tool and die makers. Develop inspection methods and equipment and lead implementation and maintenance protocols.

  • Manage multiple projects; create and continuously maintain project timelines for critical projects.

  • Balance multiple larger scope/longer term projects with daily troubleshooting/problem solving responsibilities.

  • Lead problem solving teams to identify root cause, implement corrective actions, and verify efficacy. This will include working alongside plant staff, line operators, multiskilled technicians, supervisors, and quality control technicians.

  • Interact with suppliers to resolve problems and coordinate technical interactions.

  • Any other duties commensurate with the position as and when required

What we are looking for

  • 7+ years’ experience in Injection Moulding, Setup, Problem Solving and System Design

  • An apprentice time served or graduate engineer.

  • A qualified engineer to at least HNC level.

  • Minitab, Microsoft Access, Solidworks skills or experience with similar programs or the ability and desire to learn them.

  • Experience in high volume manufacturing but not in heavy industry.

  • A good appreciation of tight tolerances (0.005mm).

  • Detailed knowledge of polymers and changes of state through the moulding process.

  • Candidates will need to demonstrate good teamwork and problem-solving skills as there is a need to work closely with others to successfully complete individual and plant objectives throughout the year.
