Provide key support to research and development by coordinating and executing routine and non-routine safety, performance, and reliability testing on batteries.
Plans and executes routine production responsibilities and non-routine experiments and tasks.
Collects, records, and transcribes routine and non-routine data; performs routine and non-routine calculations; creates routine and non-routine tables and charts; summarizes data and analyzes for exceptions; offers explanations for data exceptions; creates data reports.
Uses appropriate materials and equipment and understands the underlying principles of use or operation; applies understanding to the planning and execution of assigned program steps, experiments, and tasks.
Understands the basic principles, materials, and parts of energy systems and/or devices in assigned area. Conducts experiments, under team leader guidance, leading to new and improved systems, constructions, or processes having marketable cost/performance advantages.
Trains and instructs others to perform routine and non-routine tasks and experiments. Creates training documentation.
Coordinates the work of co-workers and interfaces with other R&D product groups, equipment, service groups, and plants to acquire the information and services necessary to execute assigned program steps, experiments, and tasks.
Executes experiments leading to new or improved methods and provides full documentation of results.
Practices proper safety procedures. Recognizes, reports and documents unsafe acts or conditions.
Participates in and implements department continuous improvement activities. Serves as an ad hoc team member as required.
Regularly communicates and engages with peers and stakeholders as needed
Additional duties as assigned.
Provide leadership to the battery performance testing lab to efficiently support customer experiments for critical battery projects.
Perform calibration and maintenance of test equipment to ensure accurate results.
Collect test data from various systems and provide summaries including charts and graphs for customer review.
Regularly communicate and engage with cross-functional stakeholders as needed.
Understand and react to electro/mechanical problems with testing equipment.
Identify and implement continuous improvement measures.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
Three years of pertinent college course work, an associate degree, or equivalent experience/education and a good fundamental understanding of higher-level mathematics, mechanics, general science, and general computer applications.
Ability to interpret shop manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis.
Five to ten years of demonstrated, related experience in a technical laboratory or similar environment.
Strong general computer skills with an advanced working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong Attention to Detail.
Preferred Skills and Experience
A. or B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering or equivalent experience in these fields.
General knowledge of statistical principles as they relate to probability, design study, inference, and association.
Experience with electronics technology with a strong focus on the principles of the design, production, installation, testing, service, use, and control of electrical and electronic parts, equipment, and systems.

Interfaces with supervisor for limited direction and guidance.
Assists, trains, and provides guidance for others up to and including team leadership responsibilities.

Works with and provides guidance to co-workers as necessary.

The Westlake, Ohio facility is a Research and Development laboratory for Batteries, Lighting, and Automotive Appearance and Fragrance products.
Will work in an office and laboratory setting
Up to 5% travel is required.
This position reports Monday-Friday, day shift. Occasionally, the schedule may vary from typical business hours
