Provide key support to research and development by coordinating and executing routine and non-routine safety, performance, and reliability testing on batteries.
Plans and executes routine production responsibilities and non-routine experiments and tasks.
Collects, records, and transcribes routine and non-routine data; performs routine and non-routine calculations; creates routine and non-routine tables, charts, and graphs; summarizes data and analyzes for exceptions; creates data reports that include conclusions.
Uses appropriate materials and equipment and understands the underlying principles of use or operation; receives training in order to operate and maintain basic equipment and instruments in assigned area.
Understands the basic principles, of energy systems and/or devices in assigned area.
Practices proper safety procedures. Recognizes, reports and documents unsafe acts or conditions.
Participates in and implements department continuous improvement activities. Serves as an ad hoc team member as required.
Regularly communicates and engages with peers and stakeholders as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.
Uses battery testing equipment to collect test data which is stored in various systems and provides summaries including charts and graphs for customer review.
Regularly communicate and engage with cross functional stakeholders as needed.
Understand and react to electro/mechanical problems with testing equipment.
Identify and implement continuous improvement measures.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
One-two years of pertinent college course work or equivalent experience/education and a good fundamental understanding of higher level mathematics, mechanics, general science and general computer applications.
Strong general computer skills with advanced working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong attention to detail.
Available to work overtime as needed.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Associate degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process engineering or equivalent experience in these fields.
General knowledge of statistical principals as they relate to probability, design study, inference, and association.
Experience with electronics technology with a strong focus on the principles of the design, production, installation, testing, service, use, and control of electrical and electronic parts, equipment, and systems.
Working Relationships & Environment
Interfaces with supervisor for direction and guidance.
Works with and provides guidance to co-workers as necessary.
Interfaces with other departments or groups to acquire and present necessary information.
The Westlake, Ohio facility is a Research and Development laboratory for Batteries, Lighting, and Automotive Appearance and Fragrance products.
Will work in in an office and laboratory setting.
Up to 5% travel is required.
This position reports Monday-Friday, day shift. Occasionally, schedule may vary from typical business hours.
