Position Summary

As a Technology Engineer on Energizer’s Global Auto Care R&D Team, you will work with a global team to perform new product development and testing of products for this innovative and exciting business. You will provide a key role in the development of new product innovations as well as the improvement of current products. The position, based in Westlake, OH will provide support of our Global Auto Care brands such as Refresh Your Car!, Driven, California Scents, and Bahama & Co.

Accountabilities

  • Interfaces with TPMs, fragrance houses and cross-functional partners to successfully deliver new products to the portfolio.

  • Learns established Energizer NPD methods and brings creative new ideas to the process while being a product owner in every aspect, from blue sky ideation, creation and implementation to delivering time, cost, performance objectives.

  • Suggests, organizes and executes experiments leading to new or improved products.

  • Provides full documentation of results, creates reports that summarize data and conclusions.

  • Performs routine and non-routine calculations including statistical data analysis.

  • Practices proper safety procedures and reports unsafe acts or conditions.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Develops an understanding of product fundamentals including the relationship between process, raw materials and other interactions taking place.

  • Learns and applies gate process to all new product development.

  • Works throughout the development cycle to obtain product engineering samples, commercial samples and pilot run samples. All for qualitative and quantitative evaluation, substantiation testing and commercial needs.

  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement measures. Serves on project teams as needed.

  • May also perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant scientific fields.

  • Experience with new product development and consumer product testing.

Working Relationships & Environment

  • Interfaces with supervisor and engineers for limited direction and guidance.

  • Works with and provides significant guidance to coworkers as necessary.

  • Interfaces with other groups, suppliers, and manufacturers to acquire necessary information and services,

Work Environment

  • Will work in a laboratory environment and also work in an open floor creative setting.

  • Able to perform repetitive manual tasks requiring hands, stand for extended periods of time, and lift 35 lbs.

  • Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Able to cope in a demanding fast-paced environment.
