Position Summary

Energizer is looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer to join our Hearing Aid Battery group. This person will understand how batteries are designed and assembled, including all raw materials and the fundamentals of battery performance. This person will work with other colleagues to identify new technologies or methods of battery design, conduct pilot and plant trial production runs, and analyze and summarize data from the perspective of performance, cost, and reliability. They will make recommendations on new cell designs that result in improved product performance and lower cost.

Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge leading to new or improved materials, products, or processes, having marketable cost/performance advantages by designing and conducting robust experiments

  • Plan and run pilot line trials, plant trials, and limited production runs, following technology roadmaps to meet objectives in a timely manner

  • Participate in establishing Intellectual Property related to assigned programs through experimental work and collaborative discussions

  • Monitor competitor’s product improvements and Intellectual Property in assigned technical area

  • Participate in problem solving teams to identify root cause, implement corrective actions, and verify efficacy

  • Report to and interface regularly with management, collaborate with colleagues, as well as external networks and partner to leverage knowledge and meet assigned business objectives

  • Follow and contribute to the development of department project plans developed by senior staff

  • Assess resources and provide information on issues, project status and schedules

  • Provide regular written documentation and oral presentations which both assess and record the progress of the work

  • Participate in the safety program and define equipment and material requirements while establishing and updating equipment and documentation meeting OSHA standards and company policies

What we are looking for

  • New Product Development concepts from laboratory through production

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related discipline

  • 5+ years’ Engineering experience in a technical laboratory or manufacturing environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Travel to manufacturing facilities as needed for projects, typically 3-6 times per year

What we would prefer (not required)

  • Knowledge of battery design and assembly, including materials and battery performance
