Responsibility primarily for all product regulatory and safety aspects of the global auto care (appearance, refrigerants, fuel additives) business from the Odin acquisition as well as some limited areas of responsible for the battery and lighting businesses. Crossover support for other auto care businesses (fragrance, appearance).
Chemical and product registration
Chemical regulation monitoring
Sanitary registration coordination
Product and packaging safety and regulatory marking
Develop and maintain technical and safety documents and online database
Contact to regulatory agencies
Recycling reporting (quantities of materials and products placed on the market globally)
WERCs account manager for retailers
Authoring global safety datasheets (SDS's) and power user of SDS software
Poison control center notifications / registrations
Chemical advice to Research and Development during product formulation
European Union REACH / Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) / California Prop 65 / EPA Registrations
Volatile organic compound use/exemptions company expert
Transportation, storage and hazardous classification
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's (4-year undergraduate) in a technical, chemical-based field, understanding of the chemical industry, particularly around safety data sheets and chemical reporting/registration. bachelor's of science preferred.
3 or more years of experience in a technical, chemical or equivalent field
Critical and creative thinker
Ability to apply general guidance to discrete and varied situations
Excellent communication both verbal and written
Ability to translate technical and legal guidance to commercial colleagues
Preferred Skills and Experience
Knowledge of SAP
Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous substance training
Safety Data Sheet storage software experience
Experience with trade associations (Household Consumer Products Association)
Working Relationships & Environment
Reports to Manager of Government Affairs
Key relationships internally will include Sales, Marketing, Legal, Research and Development, Procurement and Supply Chain
External engagement will include government officials, retail and industrial customers, and 3rd party labs
Travel 3-5 times per year
Work schedule during travel may extend before/after typical working times due to time zone(s)
Flexible at times in working hours for conference calls with global business
