Position Summary

A Senior Electrical Engineer at the Energizer’s R&D facility leads and supports project and maintenance efforts the Westlake Ohio facility. This person will be responsible for the facility power distribution systems, backup power systems, pilot line machine automation/control systems, battery testing systems, building automation and facility monitoring systems. They will also provide a supporting role in the development of new product innovations and the improvement of current product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Energizer culture of winning together while serving each other with a willingness to act boldly while doing the right thing

  • Function as part of the Facilities Team to ensure that the facility is a state-of-the-art R&D environment

  • Be a resource to the R&D organization as well as the greater Energizer organization in the areas of electrical power, electronics, battery testing systems, machine control and industrial networking

  • Ensure maximum uptime of the facility power systems and backup systems

  • Subject matter expert for laboratory and industrial electrical distribution systems

  • Oversee electrical distribution system preventive maintenance program as well as system renovation and system expansions

  • Subject matter expert for manufacturing control and safety systems

  • Provide strategic vision for equipment automation and controls systems for pilot plant operations.

  • Provide project leadership of electrical engineering and other projects from conception thru finish

  • Ensure facility compliance with electrical standards and regulations

  • Coordinate and review contractor, vendor, and consultant activity

  • Work independently and with teams on assignments of medium to high complexity projects and engineering tasks, applying engineering knowledge to complete assignments

  • Develop electrical diagrams, drawings, schematics, and specifications

  • Direct personnel performing electrical work

  • Manage and execute the electrical safety program

  • Direct, coordinate, develop, train, coach other colleagues and skilled trades

  • Support and encourage colleagues and teams to work safely, efficiently, and effectively

  • Train and mentor other colleagues in general electrical principles as well as electrical safety

  • Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering fields

  • Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience in a laboratory, light industrial, or similar environment

  • In depth knowledge of 480 power distribution system application and maintenance including:

  • One line circuit design and power coordination

  • Transformer, feeder circuit, and motor protection circuit sizing

  • Arc Flash analysis

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70(NEC), NFPA 70B

  • Ability to read and develop one-line diagrams

  • Experience with PLC’s, HMI’s, and Data Acquisition Systems from both a maintenance and design/program perspective

  • General knowledge of and experience with a variety of industrial controls and safety systems including:

  • Machine safety systems such as light curtains, safety scanners, guard switches and associated safety circuitry and controllers

  • Pneumatic valves and actuators

  • Motion control systems (Servo, Stepper, Brushless DC, Variable Speed AC)

  • Photoelectric, inductive, capacitive sensor systems and buses

  • Proficiency in understanding and developing two-line diagrams, point to point, and panel layouts (JIC, ANSI, IEC)

  • Working knowledge of the NFPA 79 standard

  • Thorough knowledge in personnel electrical safety, the NFPA 70E standard, and CFR1910 subpart S sections 332 thru 335 (OSHA electrical regulations)

  • Travel <5%

  • Personal Protective Equipment: Electrical Safety PPE, Safety Glasses, and hearing protection

What we would prefer

  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in a laboratory, light industrial, or similar environment

  • Ability to understand, troubleshoot, and program current Rockwell Logix family and Panel View Plus systems, Omron, GE and other PLC’s

  • Programming and maintenance experience with small cartesian, SCARA, and X-Y gantry robots

  • Ability to program Denso SCARA robots

  • Expertise with industrial vision systems for small part identification

  • Expertise in building automation systems and a general understanding of building controls and HVAC principles

  • Ability to work with Easy Power or other arc flash software

  • Working knowledge of Auto Cad Electrical 2020 or newer

  • Good working knowledge of general chemistry
