Position Summary

Energizer is looking for a Senior Engineer in our Specialty Battery group. The candidate will be responsible for identifying new technologies or methods of battery design, conducting pilot and plant trial production runs, and analyzing and summarizing data from the perspective of performance, cost, and reliability. The candidate will make recommendations on new cell designs that result in improved product performance and lower cost. The candidate will serve as a strong project leader, with responsibility for organizing and driving successful project completion across a multi-functional group of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge leading to new or improved materials, batteries, or processes

  • Plan and run pilot line trials, plant trials, and limited production runs, following technology roadmaps to meet objectives in a timely manner

  • Establish Intellectual Property related to assigned programs through experimental work and collaborative discussions

  • Monitor competitor’s product improvements and Intellectual Property in assigned technical area

  • Participate in problem solving teams to identify root cause, implement corrective actions, and verify efficacy of solutions

  • Design project plans and manage implementation across a wide group of stakeholders

  • Provides regular written documentation and oral presentations which both assess and record the progress of the work

  • Participate in the safety program

  • Define equipment and material requirements to comply with OSHA standards and company policies

What we are looking for

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, or related disciplines

  • 5+ years’ experience in a technical laboratory or manufacturing environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Self-motivated and flexible, able to work with minimal supervision and strong multi-tasking abilities

  • Results oriented, proactive, able to work both independently and on teams

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to draw conclusions and determine strategies based on data

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze root cause and solve problems

What we prefer

  • Masters in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering; other science or engineering disciplines will be considered along with appropriate skills and experience

  • Experience with zinc-air, lithium or other batteries and/or electrochemistry

  • Strong understanding of statistics and how they can be applied to experimental design (DOE), data analysis, and process control (SPC)

  • Experience with Minitab and/or InfinityQS (or equivalent)

  • Process development knowledge or experience; ability to scale designs and processes from benchtop to production

  • Demonstrated experience leading projects

  • Experience leading teams or providing formal or informal mentoring to other engineers
