Energizer is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Zinc Air battery team. In this position, you would be responsible for proposing, planning, and carrying out mechanical Zinc Air battery development projects within Energizer, focusing on performance and cost improvements in line with Zinc Air roadmap goals.
Lead mechanical projects from concept to implementation.
Critically and objectively analyze hearing aid battery design, performance, and reliability data to determine success or failure of trials.
Present updates on projects to plants and management.
Provide guidance, mentoring and support on topics associated with mechanical engineering to the wider engineering community.
Develop and update engineering guidelines, specifications and best practices, and support aligning such processes within the global R&D and operations teams.
Develop project plans, follow the New Product Development process.
Generate concepts to solve existing problems and/or improve products.
Design, run and analyze pilot line and plant experiments.
Refine designs through testing and revision.
Qualify design changes through limited plant runs and conversions.
Develop new manufacturing processes where required.
Design and build equipment needed for pilot production of cells and for testing new processes.
Serve as a resource for problem-solving mechanical issues on the pilot line.
Required Skills and Experience
A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
Ability to apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles as part of daily routine.
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently demonstrated capability in project planning.
Results-oriented, proactive, able to work both independently and on teams.
Eagerness to take a hands-on approach to prototype and learning or identifying problems.
Strong analytical skills, ability to draw conclusions and determine strategies based on data.
Working proficiency in 3D CAD modeling & drafting, SolidWorks preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Comfortable in a manufacturing and machine shop environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong statistical skills, experience with Minitab (or equivalent).
Design of experiments (DOE) experience.
Statistical process control (SPC) and manufacturing quality control (Infinity QS).
Familiarity with Microsoft Project.
Finite element analysis (FEA) experience a plus.
Experience working on batteries or related products a plus.
Working Relationships & Environment
Reports to Staff Technology Engineer – Battery R&D.
Key relationships internally include all of R&D, pilot line, analytical, and operations groups.
Working conditions are an R&D laboratory and office environment. The use of proper PPE may be required in certain circumstances.
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel domestically up to 15% of the time
